Masons Paints

I was surprised to find a discontinued line when I went to place and order with Masons Coatings this week.
It's several years since we used them last as their paint keeps really well and most of our fleet use waterborne products now.

What has happened to Masons? Does anyone know? Do they have a new number? Even their website leads to a porn site.

Does anyone now produce Masopar, one of the best durable coatings we have ever used.

My bus number (if any): none at present

Re: Masons Paints

Hiya Jack. I used an excellent range of paint from Masons about 10 years ago called Miogard which was a rust preventing paint developed for bridges and pylons...good stuff for chassis. Then the name of Joseph Masons disappeared about 5 years ago when they were taken over by Corroless International. They now specialise in anti corrosion coatings so I'm not sure if all the ranges are still available. Their head office is in Birmingham 0121 524 2235.

My bus number (if any): RM531

Re: Masons Paints

I,m pretty sure Mason's were taken over by HMG Paints I have tried their library with special mix paint code references from the Mason's era to no avail - they did find a match for a standard Mason's maroon paint from the 1970's that is still current. Same old story the old paint references don't have a modern equivalent - only way is a visual equivalent or a sample analysed on their paint spectrometer.

Re: Masons Paints

Further to the above the current coatings side of Joseph Mason seems to be now part of Akzo Nobel who seem to own just about everyone in the paint market !

Re: Masons Paints

Is that the same NOBEL company that used to own the ELEY Trading Estate in Edmonton N.18 and used to make bombs and shells and bullets in the first world war?
