Re: RT/RM interior bulbs

An update. The GS owner no longer wants to be involved with bulb orders, but the company that does them is:
CEAG Ltd
Zenith Park, Whaley Road
Barnsley
South Yorkshire
S75 1HT
Tel +44(0)1226 206842
Fax +44(0)1226 731645
email: sales@ceag.co.uk

They had the 20watt bulbs ex stock at 60p each plus a small order carriage charge of £12 before Christmas. The minimum order for free delivery is £120, so with the best will in the world we are not going to get an order together of that value unless we do a combined ROOF order but Gordon and Ewan Pring and I have already bought quite a lot of bulbs.

What I suggest now is that anyone who wants bulbs orders thenm for themselves for delivery for the time being unless Chris wants to take on the role of bulb stockist.
The 20W interior bulbs are as I said 60p each so 30 enough for an RML would be £18 plus the small order/delivery charge of £12, so that would be £34 inc VAT so about £1.15 each, which is a darn site cheaper than the £2 odd that they used to be.

Re: interior bulbs

Any reason why RMs had 2 watt extra bulbs and does it show? I doubt garages with RTs and RMs bothered with segregation of the two as they must have been identical, they had a hard job keeping blind box bulbs out of the saloon lamp holders let alone almost identical bulbs!! Maybe the RMs were brighter on the same basis as they changed the wattage on the 1938 tube stock trains just before withdrawal to brighten up the interiors?

Re: interior bulbs

RM2213 has 20 watt bulbs and I got 12 watt bulbs for RM 471 when the flourescent tubes had been removed at BusWorks to allow new lamp sockets to be fitted. Side by side they do not appear any different at night or in daylight, which I agree is rather surprising. Naturally the 12 watt bulbs will be less of a battery drain when used without the engine running.

I'm happy to bulk order some 12 or 20 watt 50mm bayonet cap bulbs from CEAG if there is any demand.

Re: interior bulbs

Hiya

I've just put what they should have, it doesn't matter what you use as long as they are all the same wattage and give off the same light in each.

I fitted my RM with RF bulbs deliberatly to lessen the current flow on the wiring and the light they give off against the yellow ceiling is a warm, soft light very reminiscent of old buses, although I did use a 22 watt one in the platform light.
