Open question for Rob Dolan

Rob, did you REALLY mean it when the Herald quoted you as saying that the "best way" for Boston 2024 to get information about the "benefits" of the Olympic Games being held in Boston was through "local mayors and selectmen"?

Unlike a lot of folks on this site, I've never been a hater, but the degree of tone deafness in your statement is astounding. No Stalin-era commissar would feel the need to change a word.

Re: Open question for Rob Dolan

The guy is delusional. He oversees a bedroom town that has enough property tax revenue and a citizenry plenty wealthy enough that a giraffe could manage the place without much trouble. The micromanagement is what has caused the school dept implosion and the poor results of infrastructure investment. He doesn't know what the "benefits" of Boston2024 are, just wants to get his soundbite in so he can pretend to be playing with the big boys.

Re: Open question for Rob Dolan

Yah well Robbie looks pretty silly hitching himself to the 2024 Olympics bandwagon when the far more intelligent activists and politicians (including his former mentor, DB, on whom he turned in slimy betrayal) fought this Bad Deal for Boston very effectively and won. Surely Robbie will spin his foolishness, but he's a Tin Man now, with only cynical politics as his "compass" (and not very smart politics anymore either, regardless of "running" unopposed--since he's squandered the trust and respect many people once had for him). He keeps hitching himself to those he thinks will advance him into Something Else (didn't work out so well with his college roomie or any of the others he's been playing up to either so far). Maybe he thinks he can become a Radio Star now or maybe he can "reinvent" himself with his own MMTV fake "duel" with another tarnished politician. Meanwhile he thinks he's in for another 26% raise after his slamdunk Override, or maybe Not So Much, since he has so cynically miscalculated all kinds of things the last few years (like supporting the past 2 superintendents with his supremely foolish and resounding "Exemplary" ratings). It's all pretty pathetic actually. He may have a clot of ever-renewing gullible supporters, but the real proof in the pudding are all those who helped him get where he is and whom he's turned on in his vicious and juvenile outbursts and manipulations and who now know him for exactly how small he really is.

"Winning" an election in Melrose now isn't much to brag about, especially when you're a Tin Man. Surely he's noticed the increasing number of "Blanks" on those ballots, not just for mayor but for so many of the local positions, especially those GIC-Takers (MBMM, PM, JT, along with RS & WF, whom Mr. 26% bought at our expense). Most of our local pols have passed their sell-by dates (they were bought a long time ago--and we citizens have to keep paying! Enough!). Where are the candidates with a heart and a mind (and oh, how about some Ethics while they're at it!)????

At least it's looking/sounding like there are plenty of brains still functioning about the Override, since there is a large Silent Majority of us who will not, under any circumstance, vote for that bridge called an override (no matter how many threats RD or CT come up with between now and November about "cuts"). It can go the way of Boston2024! Enough! Not fooled by this foolishness!!!

The term "bedroom community" died at least a decade ago. Those days will be missed. Everyday this city changes and becomes even more populated.
