Manisha

I went on the SFFM website. Updated information has been posted. They announced hosting a Thanksgiving Market in November but not a monthly Winter's Market. "Manisha for Melrose" is still listed as the "Business Vendor" on October 12th. Obviously, she has not asked to be removed as requested. The BOA does not need a pushy and narcisstic lady asking for an unfair advantage over other candidates. Do the right thing, Manisha and show some class!

Re: Manisha

If you are running for a position this fall, ask them for your own booth. Until then, shut the trap.[:-D]

Ever hear of "free speech"? I guess Constitutional ignorance is still rampant in Melrose!

I am not running. I am not the original poster but I agree that it should not happen. I am an observer of political Melrose. Many things are concerning. Someone who is a City Planner knows about the appropriate use of community spaces. Political campaigning in a formal booth setting hurts the Farmer's Market. The generous use of 2 free booths every week helps charitable groups share their missions and supports Entreprenuers and Small Businesses market themselves. Manisha did not buy and cannot buy the "business vendor" spot. The booths are not for sale and political campaigns shouldn't be there. No politician should ask for a booth. "Manisha for Melrose" shows by asking for a booth that she really is only Manisha for Manisha.

Re: Manisha

It will be interesting to see who supports whom......how are the Melrose Democrats going to decide between Bewtra, Garabedian and Zwirko? Who will be the loser? There are 4 spots at Large. Don C. and Monica M. will definitely win. Garbedian, Bewtra or Zwirko will lose. Women are running for office in record numbers which should bode well for Manisha and Kate. If people want an outsider they should be for Kate Garabedian. Kate could lose to Zwirko and Bewtra, if the likes of Ward 5, Gail continue to be two-faced. Watch the MEF gang, the Melrose Dems and City Hall hacks to see how they play the game and cast lots between Mike, Kate and Manisha. Don, Scott and Monica will be happy to welcome Julie DeLillo to the table. Frank Wright will have time to get a drink with MBMM on a Monday night.

Re: Manisha

The slate of candidates by and large is one that shows just how badly Melrose fails at having a conscience or backbone.

No one should get their hopes up when it comes to some of the new faces. They are all dancing as fast as they can, playing politics with the same Good Ol' Melrose Boys (gender neutral, of course). Even Julie is doing the suck-up sickening gushy dance (watch when she went before BOA last week and kowtowed to that creepy clown show under Morty's boorish "leadership"), while proclaiming her huge outrage (really? THIS is what upsets her????) over the grave offense she feels about the possibility of being called a city councillor instead of an alderman! Yeah, it's good that she's running against FW and she deserves to win after her brave and smart stand against Dolan and MEF's shameful and fortunately failed override (don't think for a minute, though that Melrose taxpayers didn't get shafted in the end, because all you have to do is look at the school building projects or any number of other schemes (especially those that target the Birth to Five gullibles) that managed to pass without a whimper of protest and fill the slush-fund buckets). Really, is this ("City Council" vs BOA) low stupid discourse the best that Melrose can produce with all the huge actual issues? And looking through the number of actual intelligent letters written by thoughtful citizens about the proposed charter changes, it's revealing that someone like KLG managed to skirt around all the actual issues in order to correct stylistic and technical issues (fine to do, but not in the absence of addressing the real issues). No, MB should not be abusing the Farmer's Market for political gain, but think about it.... This market is one of Robbie's objets de FeelGood, and certainly MB has his full approval or this would not have been allowed. Melrose has never been too concerned about ethical lapses (even if actual laws are trampled on as well). Just as KLG makes sure her prime photo op is smack between RD and PB with all the fake-Dems encircling them in the ice cream shop (only thing missing is kissing the babies), MB has the papal blessing of His Dizhonor, and therefore that's where the real ire should be directed. Whether it's MZ, MB or KLG, they are all in the RD bag by now so it hardly makes much difference. When Melrose has had a chance at intelligent, caring & independent voices with actual backbone, it has flipped them the bird. Melrose has earned exactly what it's getting, unfortunately.
