Re: One Means No Others Welcome in Melrose

IIRC, the snarky phrase for Melrose is "fancy pants Melrose" from "Gone Baby Gone"....

Re: One Means No Others Welcome in Melrose

I thought it was "hoity toity" lol.

So we're one step above Charlestown.

Re: One Means No Others Welcome in Melrose

Yes these same people with one community open to all stickers on their cars want to price out anybody and everybody that doesn’t make at least 200k. Your property values will increase they tell us. Well who can afford them now. Not the mailman from 40 years ago with 3 kids and a wife who could stay home but they saved and saved for that house that now they will be taxed out of. Or how about the fireman and his new bride working as a part time nurse. How they loved that little starter home near Lincoln school that they were able to sell for a bigger home near the common where there four kids played until the streetlights came on. Or the single factory worker who bought a nice fixer upper house in the Horace Mann neighborhood. He worked his bare hands to the bone making that home beautiful and eventually found a wife to come in and give it a woman’s touch. She worked at Cerratanis at night for extra money while raising their two children during the day. For people like this, the dream is no longer alive in Melrose. There are no “starter” home prices. Unless you are white-collar and take the train daily into Boston for you job in the financial district, or we’re lucky enough to inherit money, Melrose is out of reach. And the people’s snooty behavior reflects this.

Re: One Means No Others Welcome in Melrose

The new Melrose. You drive to Cambridge in your Subaru with that dumb vote yes sticker on your car. You are driving when you could take the bus or train to save fossil fuels even though you sanctimoniously prance around Melrose with recyclable bags. You are cutting people off in traffic and speeding because you're not in Melrose anymore where you proudly hold traffic up by driving 20 mph.

You go online asking for vacation advice. Beaches without wind. Vegetarian cruises. You want a free taxi ride to Logan.
You live next to the train station but don't want to hear trains. You feel saintly giving away a a half eaten ham for free.

You want the best schools for your children. But you don't want the cost of a private school. You want the old Melrose to pay.

Also, the narcissisc selfish millennials say F..K the Fire and Police. Who cares about them . It’s all about the children! Voting NO !

Re: One Means No Others Welcome in Melrose

Intolerance
Looking at the picture of the BOA Nine online today, and reading the absolutely intolerant and hysterical rantings of the One Melrose crowd is really disturbing. Apparently Melrose no longer welcomes any diversity of opinion, and only pretends to welcome "diversity" of any other kind. Sure, they'll all be huggy with each other, making sure the photo ops capture the Great Diversity Moment, but dare to have another opinion, and these same sanctimonious frauds will launch their intolerance missiles.

The proponents of this override have gone off the rails with out-and-out cyberbullying, and in-your-face bullying, with lots of Bystanders as well.

Even one of those supposedly most focused on honoring diversity is today suggesting online that Monica Medeiros and Bob Boisselle be thrown out of office because they have not synched up with The One. This is sick and disgusting. And most of these evangelists call themselves Democrats! Do they realize how deranged their behavior is?!

One Melrose now symbolizes absolute Intolerance to all but Their One Opinion.

What a sad and disgusting state of affairs in this city!
The beach without wind post killed me. Seriously. Where are these people from?

Re: One Means No Others Welcome in Melrose

Glad I’m not the only one who has the guilty pleasure of secretly laughing at these people. “My child doesn’t like wind”.
Future safe space seeker for sure. How many here would say to their child, it’s the beach, it’s windy, deal with it.

I don't secretly laugh at such idiocy. I laugh right in their sanctimonious faces.

Right On!
Maybe we should all jump on the bandwagon and vote to reduce the voting age to 16....because we all know the Melrose children are brilliant:-)

Re: One Means No Others Welcome in Melrose

Let's have an override to surround Melrose with a 200 foot tall wind barrier. We can all take out a $50,000.00 second mortgage to pay for it.
