Re: Open positions in the district

School Superintendent Ms. Taymore has told us in open meetings recently that having to fill these numbers of open positions are normal and typical each year in Melrose! Of course she neglects to tell us that many admin & teachers who have left our school system since she became Superintendent was because she let them go or pressured them to leave (e.g., Mary Weeks, Tom Brow, school nurses, and countless others), or they could not tolerate her arrogant and demeaning nature and just left or retired! Even those whom she has personally hired over the past years, she has fired or terminated.

Her erratic behavior evidenced during school committee meetings over the years (using coarse and abusive language and taking cat naps) should demonstrate to us that this person is a poor fit for a leader of our school system.

Re: Open positions in the district

Which science teacher is leaving from the high school?

Re: Open positions in the district

Maybe she can hire some relatives like they do over at the charter school!

Re: Open positions in the district

There is no doubt that she will certainly hire her friends as she has in the past (Dr. Adams, school business manager,etc.). In this regard, she is worse than a political hack!

Yes she has taken Casey's cronyism to a new low and has made the operations of the school district more political then ever (and it is not supposed to be political at all). She cowtows to that country-club mommies foundation and her union BFF, does whatever the mayor wants for the money and hiring, and inserts herself into politics even more than JC did. Whatever the political leanings of school administrators and school committee members are, they are not supposed to be political and in fact are supposed to studiously avoid that.

That being said, even the cronies she hires are bailing (like that interim W principal who put in his resignation just a couple weeks after she hired him). Yeah, Exemplary, all right.

Re: Open positions in the district

The sad fact is that Ms. Thorp at the next school committee meeting will present the glowing performance evaluation (PE) of Ms. Taymore by averaging the results of all their evaluations which will have the effect of diluting the only true and honest evaluation of her by CCK. Based on this phony summary PE, the committee will vote on a pay raise for Taymore (with 1 no vote by CCK). And later next year, they will certainly vote to extend her contract for another 3 years since the committee (except CCK)and our illustrious Mayor are enamored of her!

We all need to know what we have to do at the next school committee election period......vote these bums out! It's the very least we can do!

Re: Open positions in the district

I don't know, it doesn't seem to be that big a list - especially if you tKe the Education Stations staff openings out. Just a few teachers. And I don't think they are all replacements?

Re: Open positions in the district

The list would seem reasonable if it were predicated on a habit of reporting the truth and if things were better generally. But many staff members feel so demoralized and mistreated that they will only give notice at the end of summer or last minute now. If you pay attention to the way hiring and retention have been going the last two years, you can see that there are people who have taken jobs in prime positions and have given notice almost immediately. The working conditions are considered toxic. This is not the opinion of just a few disgruntled dissenters. Ask around (beyond the foundation mommies, of course) and you will find that morale is non-existent and that even some of the most dedicated long-term staff members are looking for a way out.

Re: Open positions in the district

Watch the list grow each day

Re: Open positions in the district

God, I love seeing you buffoons babble on about the school system. It's not going to get any better until Dolan is off the SC and you have some consistent teachers (too many temps). Wow, did I just solve all the schools problems in ten seconds?? Its the summer time people, take a lap.

Re: Open positions in the district

Hey you with the funny bone,
While you are correct about what needs to change, you send like a jackrabbit yourself with your mocking tone, which doesn't help anything.
There are kids actually being hurt by this system, so it's not really a laughing matter. Don't get me wrong, I think humor is a help generally. But you just sound dismissively snide. If that was a wrong impression, sorry.
