Fine Arts Chair has got to go

You think the Science Chair was bad. She looks like Darwin compared to the Fine Arts Chair. I will ask all of you your opinion. Do you think telling and writing in evaluations to teachers that students of color need to be separated is a racist remark? Well, the Office of Civil Rights has found probable cause resulting in opening yet another formal investigation of MPS. Now I know we all miss Mr. Messina and it was a long time coming in filling this position but this Chair needs to be kicked to the curb side. Oh and on Tuesday night's SC meeting the Superintendent spoke of a trip MR in the art department will be arraigning. To my recollection, MR received the lowest score you can receive in his evaluation yet the female teacher who received a needs improvement because she failed to separate the students of color was non renewed. Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture? Maybe sexual discrimination should be added to that complaint.

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

Another pure example of the institutionalized retaliation against teachers and parents by the Superintendent and top brass. You've got to be brave to file a complaint of any sort in this town. We should expect yet more pickpocketing of the taxpayers to pay for legal defense for these losers.

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

"She looks like Darwin compared to the Fine Arts Chair."

This is truth. That chair is dumber than an f'en crayon. And to put in writing that the "students of color" need to be separated should have been all that CT needed to hit the Delete button on that employee. Instead she "nonrenewed" one of the finest and most compassionate art teachers the district has ever had. Good going CT and great management of your one employee, School Committee!!! Time to hit the Delete button on all of you (except Mrs. K).

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

So now there is yet another United States Office of Civil Rights investigation against our district. Well that is quite Exemplary indeed. This points to a situation where truly we should all be calling for the immediate resignation of the top brass (and any who have supported them or provided the legal "guidance" that supported the illegal conduct). When in Melrose history have we had the federal government marching in to investigate our officials' basic conduct and observation of our country's most sacred laws? I think the answer is Never Before. Help me, has Melrose ever been the object of multiple civil rights investigations in its history? Things have been sordid more than once, but this situation is just over the top crazy. Talk about Newsworthy!!!!

Do they really think they can continue to hide this or spin it away? That is outrageous all by itself, but it goes way beyond anything I think most of us have ever witnessed. That government investigation team won't even touch an investigation unless it has met many rigorous criteria and been vetted by a team of their federal attorneys. This becomes a national matter on a national registry with press that can't be suppressed by the 2nd Floor puppets who normally keep a tight wrap on what gets published.

Wow. I'm mortified for my city and very very angry at those who caused this!

Wait: Are you calling on Superintendent Cyndy Taymore and the City's Attorney, Robert Van Campen to resign?

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

Why is this woman still on the faculty roster???? She is a disaster. Why is this community allowing CT to keep these charlatans in its employ? This "chair" is causing a lot of harm to a program that this community has kept safe from bad administrators for generations. Now this dumb and arrogant administrator is being allowed to wreak havoc. How much worse will it have to get before everyone wakes up and screams for her dismissal?

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

Does anyone know the details about this incident? What could possibly be the justification for segregating students based on color??? Theres gotta be more to the story here. What is going on?

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

Folks! This is Taymore's way of education - you all voted for the buffoons who hired her!

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

This woman is so idiotic that she thinks the way to achieve "equity" for all students is to discriminate against them by forcing integration. She can talk in circles, using all the edu-lingo, but she has no idea how to run an art department or how to even work with students. She is hated by the students and she even put her hands on a student last year....and STILL this incompetent woman is running the art department!

She has cost the district so much already. Aside from the cost of her salary, she has cost the district to lose a great Art Teacher and has cost our children to lose out on a truly caring teacher who was doing great things with our kids. How much are we willing to pay before we find a way to get rid of this woman, along with the other administration running this sinking ship??

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

The Globe reporter brenda.buote@gmail.com should be contacted about the Art Chair, Paymore and the SC's pattern of protecting incompetent and destructive staff members. Page B5 in today's Boston Globe has her contact information at the end of her article.

Truth Seeker: Yes! Exactly.

Also, the community needs to be present at Tuesday night's School Committee meeting. They are going to be presenting Kristin Thorp's "summary" of the Superintendent's Evaluation, meaning only that she will include just the favorable stuff that meets her approval, because she/they created (according to what I saw/heard on the last SC broadcast) a new set of fake criteria where the only commentary included has to be that echoed by 2 or more committee members (talk about cooking and spinning!). These people have no conscience! They are planning to give this same superintendent a raise that night, if you can believe that. They should be demanding her resignation! And we should be demanding theirs! We need to show up In Force!

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

The Globe Reporter should be invited to Tuesday night's Meeting. Are KT or DC running for re-election/pulled papers?

Every parent/Melrose Citizen should visit every "candidate booth" (SC and BOA) plus the MEF etc. at The Victorian Fair and tell them why they are voting against the Override....legal bills, administrative raises, civil rights violations, bullying behaviors, incompetence and mismanagement of the MPS is why they will not be voting for the Override. The beautiful kids sporting new clothes and backpacks on their way to school this week deserve better. But more $ given to the current batch of elected officials and school department employees is wrong on every front. $ is not the answer or what is really needed here.....

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

Right on, "New Clothes"!

Meanwhile the Facebook Melrose Community Page is focused on nail salons, cats, dogs, and 200 posts by Betsey Benagh about every opinion of hers (pro-school-district, naturally) she thinks everyone should know immediately. For contrast there are the frequent delightful posts of Martha Grover, who cannot say enough about why the administration is so wonderful and why we should all support the override (and simultaneously behave hatefully, like she does, towards those with another view of the situation). Then there are the frequent comments of those like Jen McAndrew echoing the lovely Grover posts.

If anyone wonders why Melrose is in the mess, now a nationally noted mess, you only have to look at the almost 4,000 people posting on this Facebook page to understand the screwed-up priorities of this community.

This is a correct approach. That administrator (and her boss) needs to be removed before any more harm is done.

Re: Fine Arts Chair has got to go

So while Rome burns (and they give out chintzy pencils paid for with our taxdollars at the Fair), this incompetent menace continues to have a high level administrative position with the Melrose Public Schools! It shouldn't be a surprise anymore based on all that has happened and all that continues to be tolerated here, but it is. This crew is stunningly awful.
