Once again, instead of firing for Just Cause, CT has caused the district to be sued by refusing to fire a known abuser and instead promoted him to a bigger role, this time because BC called a teacher the B word. This is the administrator that Rob thinks would be an "incredible" choice for the next super! (The teacher "resigned"and is working for much better pay in a much better district, while justifiably suing the a$$ off this criminally negligent administration.) The district's crack legal team is trying to recharacterize it, as it were (euphemism), to defend this known serial bully. Of course BC's wife is CT's shopping buddy, so of course she didn't just send him out by police escort the way she's overseen for totally innocent educators being treated vindictively. Naturally you can be sure that Margaret knows all the gory details straight from the horse's mouth and probably only shared the lawsuit information with Jess and Rob (who had to know from his crony legal eagle). Maybe the SC doesn't even know that it continues to effuse about its beloved super while she wracks up another few hundred grand defending the disgusting and indefensible, bringing further shame and huge taxpayer cost to our city. Apparently there are several MCAD lawsuits now in addition to everything else (OCR multiple cases, grievances galore, SPED suits, complaints....). Doesn't excuse the SC's willful ignorance one bit. They know plenty and they are just as culpable in this burgeoning shameful mess they are supposed to be overseeing. They all deserve to be Recalled.
Time to change the city charter so that this would be possible!

Besides this incident - BC has a history of making bad judgments - example when he was Principal at the Lincoln when he used his school account to link to his own personal social media account supporting a politician. He had to be told to take down the link after complaints. The word is around about his lack of personal restraint and control when dealing with students, parents and school complaints. Of course he is Taymore's favorite person - so he automatically gets a pass. How is Taymore still here? Go ask School comm chair Driscoll who believes that Taymore is the second coming - because the angels told her so!
Why would you expect anything different from a superintendent who actually awarded a new three year contract to the HM principal who admitted to the chief of police to filing a retaliatory false police report against a family who, just hours earlier, had filed a teacher misconduct complaint with her?
The principals that the superintendent hired need to leave. The 5 CT hired are not doing what is needed to be accomplished for a school department. You are allowed to bully, shun, be hostile to one another and that's what is encouraged. Its to bad because when I come to school and drive on the Lynn Fells Pkwy it looks so nice the grounds. That is not the case inside the schools in Melrose sadly this string will tell more.

He has made simular statements to former teachers at the Lincoln. Pointed his finger in educator faces. Threatened them (not physically) as he's a bully and we all know bullies are cowards.
His first year at MVMMS he was so nasty to a teacher she left the building crying and never returned. We need all these woman who have been abused by BC to step forward.
At the Lincoln when the 5th graders went to ecamp an incident occurred. There was some inappropriate behave on the part of some students. BC told the students NOT to tell their parents. What kind of example is he for our kids.
He told me he could hire 2 to 2 1/2 teachers for what I was being paid. For years he harassed me to retire. I finally did along with 2 other Lincoln teachers. All female. All over 50. He should be fired. How many major deliberate mistakes can he make and not be held accountable and not fired.
If I didn't know any better I would say Dolan and Taymore are paying bounties to principals who can bully older teachers into leaving or retiring to help free up the salary budget. Indeed, older, more experienced teachers make much more than the younger inexperienced teachers that would replace them, but harassing them into leaving is actually a crime. But then again, this is Melrose, where civil rights take a seat in the back of the bus.

What he did to the Lincoln secretary is reprehensible. I heard as well its not just teachers he goes after. If you're female and over 50 there is a good chance you could be next unless you're a quiet, keep to yourself kind of person. Speak your mind and you're a goner.

Unfortunately, these bullying administrators are costing us all a fortune. The teacher went out on paid medical leave due to his harassment (60k+). The District had to hire a replacement teacher for her (50k+). She will sue the district in civil court costing the district another 50k+ in attorney's fees and a likely 100k+ settlement; that's if the city solicitor doesn't make a mess of things as he has in the past by piling on even more harassment onto the victim, in which case the settlement amount will double.
Question: Who are the fools who permit these rogue administrators to run amuck, costing the citizens of Melrose millions of dollars and, furthermore, embarrassing our City?
You do realize that this is only the beginning, right? The worst is still to come. THID DIDN'T STOP HIM FROM PLACING THIS FALSE CHARGE IN HER PERSONNEL FILE. HE SPIED ON HER. CALLED HER TO HIS OFFICE A NUMBER OF TIMES. REASSIGNED HER. MADE REMARKS ABOUT HER AGE AND RETIREMENT AS WELL. HAD OTHER STAFF AFRAID TO BE SEEN WITH HER AND OTHERS IN HIS POCKET SPREADING FALSE RUMORS. HE'S A BULLY AND I HOPE THOSE WHO HE'S DONE THE SAME TO OR WITNESSED THINGS WITH HER OR OTHERS COME FORWARD. SHE FILED A COMPLAINT AT MCAD. IT'S NOT A MATTER OF WINNING TO HER. IT'S STANDING UP TO THIS MAN AND SAYING YOU ARE ABUSING YOUR POWER, RETALIATING, HARASSING AND HUMILIATING A PERSON FOR OTHER THAN JUST CAUSE. OH, AND SHE'S OVER 50. SEE A PATTERN.
Meanwhile the rogue band director continues to act out, alternating between random explosions and targeting his vindictiveness, all the while being excused by CT. He unloaded on a Special Needs student recently and still wasn't fired. Has used f-bombs in classroom since his first year/week here (under virtually any other administrator he would have been gone right then and there, but naturally gets a pass from CT). That one will cost the district, too, as he has a knowledgeable parent who is also a SPED teacher. He cost the district a year and a half ago when he harassed female staff members and CT hired a consultant and lawyers to "investigate" (yeah right!), in other words, to find a way to put a lid on it. The guy's a loose cannon, always was, though allowed to continue because he has some sort of weird sexual flirtation hold on CT, DH (whose daughters he had hired...nepotism, what nepotism?), and even some local moms who absolutely should know better but seem to need to be under his spell. Too many parents suck up to him thinking it's another way to have their kid be a star (yeah right!). Dangerous and idiotic. Another confirmed menace allowed to roam free and cause continual harm to students, staff, and taxpayer bank accounts.
I have no kids yet (hence, no real experience with the schools), but when I read strings like this, I just can't believe it. This school system sounds crazy. I mean, I know that every town/city has its problems, but this is over the top cray-cray. Teachers swearing in class, principals targeting their teachers, administrators filing false police reports. I am asking (and I am entirely sincere here): Is this really happening? Are there this many corrupt people running the schools? This is seriously disturbing stuff.

Here's a good place to start if you need some help understanding the depth and breadth of the sickness that the Melrose School Committee and administration continue to allow/promote. After this findings document, the official response was a trumped-up "award" for the superintendent, someone who by rights in any decent district would have been fired summarily FOR CAUSE (for many things, not least of which includes running a purposely fake and manipulated "investigation").
You can believe most of what is revealed on this message board when it comes to the schools (forget the fascist rantings under the cityside portion, even if it does represent far too much of what goes on behind the scenes in this supposedly decent and pleasant community). Most of it is verifiable.
No wonder so many Melrose residents send their kids to private schools. And you know what's unfair about that? Melrose is a middle class city, meaning not everyone makes mega bucks. So instead of just relying on local schools through taxes, now you have to take that second job or work that overtime just to make sure your kids get that great education. What happened? When did this go so rogue? I went to MHS back in the day and it was a great school. That is not sarcasm, it really was.
It started to go bad in November of 2001, and then really started to plummet when the Mayor got himself onto the school committee.
Administrators filing false police reports against complainants and even the victims immediately after they have filed using the school District's alleged complaint policy which , although in writing, doesn't really exist at all as the DOE, Office of Civil Rights discovered.
Administrators filing false harassment complaints, or instructing their teachers to file false harassment against parents and students in local district courts, again, immediately after a complaint has been filed by a victim.
The city solicitor publicly ridiculing victims and witnesses of civil rights violations in local newspapers and even illegally threatening to take criminal complaints out against victims, their families to scare them into not pursuing further their complaints.
Local principals defaming and slandering victims and complainants, falsely accusing them of "disturbing a school or assembly" (considered a crime under
MGL Ch. 272, Sec. 40).

I'm not sure what other parents have experienced but our kid had the above mentioned teacher and we didn't have a good year. Other teachers on that team were excellent but if it is the same person I believe it to be, the person was quite inconsistent, not the best communicator and not very nice. I won't go into detail but essentially I gave up trying to communicate with them.
My kid had a great experience with this teacher. Once again, this sounds like an out of control administrator that feels emboldened because he's pals with and was hand picked by Dolan, then forced on Superintendent CT, lest he round up the school committee votes to fire her (which should have happened years ago if there was a competent school committee). How else would all these unqualified Melrose townies suddenly be getting all the plum administrative positions in the school department? Again, this is why the Mayor needs to be removed from the school committee sooner rather than later before the school is completely overrun with patronage hacks.

This will require a change to the city charter. With the series of CT debacles over the last three years (including the multiple Office of Civil Rights investigations, costly law suits and multiple outstanding formal civil rights complaints still uninvestigated and unresolved by our trusty Civil rights officer, PWL) the mayor has significant control over CT and could round up the votes to fire her next week. And this is how Dolan has been able to force CT to select these ridiculously unqualified candidates for important administrative positions. Fact: the schools are becoming Dolan's favored patronage den at the expense of the children.
