Driscoll Award

PR firm just brought another award.
This time the School Super Org chose Margaret Driscoll !
Our taxpayer money is being well spent !

Re: Driscoll Award

Is that the SC all star award mentioned previously? Or something else?

Re: Driscoll Award

Same thing. This is the award that is arranged by MASC with help from our $800 a month PR Firm, paid by your tax dollars. It is given annually to the school committee chairs who exemplify everything an SC chair should NOT be; those that have acted in direct contravention to the best interests of the general student population. They alienate, intimidate and retaliate against the victims of harassment, bullying and civil rights related aggression by teachers, administrators and even city legal counsel. Sadly, the school committee members like Margaret and Rob honestly believe that their job is to cover up these crimes, and then retaliate against the victims, witnesses and complainants so that the complainants and thus, the problem will perhaps disappear. Their abhorrent behavior continues to costs tax payers millions of dollars a year in legal fees, settlement costs, student outplacement costs and of course, historic bad press for our city.

I challenge you to watch MMTV reruns, even the first 10 minutes of every meeting so that you can see Margaret beating up on our neighbors during public comment period. Any time someone brings up any valid point contradicting the party line or exposing the SC and school misadministration, Margaret starts harassing them. I challenge you to educate yourself on how Margaret, Rob and other SC members conspired to prevent Carrie Courkoumelis from obtaining information about the rampant civil rights violations within the school district, and then forced her off the committee by their persistent bullying tactics.

Re: Driscoll Award

No these creeps did not "force" CKK off the school committee as she stood firm fighting for our community's children and taxpayers all through her six years, though they tried unsuccessfully to intimidate her with their constant bullying and outrageously illegal conduct. CKK had the integrity and grit to stand up to them at each and every juncture, and she finally stepped down when she could not continue to sit next to them as they broke one law after another. She has ethical backbone, class, and intelligence and always fought for the students, unlike the menaces like CT and MD whose fraudulent "awards" reveal the shameful lack of integrity of the SC and the MASC and MASS. Those bogus designations also point to the toxic environment in both the education world and the completely messed-up world of politics, nationally and local.

Not quite

I agree that they did not force CKK off the committee but instead isolated her and ignored all her suggestions, recommendations, and even warnings of the impact some of their rules would have on the educational process in Melrose. This isolation of her was driven by the committee's corruption and lack of ethics and transparency and their constant drive to cover-up the ills of the school department as evidenced by OCR findings - and of course pushed by Thorp and Driscoll as chairs. It disgraceful to watch but neither of these two people have any sense of dignity or ethics.

Re: Driscoll Award

Now, MD as SC Chair can sign the checks !

Get MAAV's Saint Rebecca to do an anti-bullying workshop.

Re: Driscoll Award

Saint R couldn't care less about the real issues. She is part and parcel of the problem, totally embedded with these awful SC members and administrators. She gets to have her cushy job and ego-gratification of her "saintly" role thanks to them, so she certainly wouldn't rock their boat, even when it's her MAAV/MHS poster kids that are the drunkest, drugged partying loose cannons. She's as phony as the whole lot of them when it comes to how she approaches the serious problems confronting the community. Her stark absence every time it really matters (like with the OCR issues) says it all. She is the consummate hypocrite and bystander when it comes to bullying.

Re: Driscoll Award

That is absolutely correct. She is one of the biggest frauds of them all, but flies under the radar because she is only answerable to Dolan and his cronies.

True

It makes me feel better that other citizens have noticed this.

Rebecca Mooney is a simpering fraud who is a disgrace to her position. She remains the smiling face of anti-violence even after the recent times where her organization, if not a political patronage center, could have been a helpful intermediary.

She did get that nice trip to San Diego though with her friends. Must be nice.

Re: Driscoll Award

Now PR firm manages to get itself awards! Absolutely sickening and gross! Wonder if they'll be brought in to spin the literal Grave-Robbing Crimes of Melrose Officials and Their Friends!

WASHINGTON and GEORGETOWN, Mass. — John Guilfoil Public Relations LLC is honored to announce that three members of the team traveled to the nation’s capital yesterday and accepted four national awards from PR News for their work over the past year.

The 12:30 p.m. event, held at the National Press Club on Tuesday, Dec. 7, honored the top professionals in Public Relations in 2016 who make communications matter every day.

For the second year in a row, John Guilfoil, the principal owner of the company, received the Public Affairs Professional of the Year award for successfully spearheading public affairs campaigns for the company’s police, fire, municipal, school and nonprofit clients.

Guilfoil also won in the category of Crisis Manager of the Year for his work with multiple clients, including the Exeter, N.H. Police Department and the Taunton Fire Department.

Both awards were competitive, with multiple finalists in each category.

“The public sector rightly deserves effective public relations advice and communications strategy, and this company endeavors every day to do just that,” Guilfoil said. “I am humbled and honored to accept these awards in front of my peers in the public relations industry, and I am grateful to our clients for allowing us to be part of their teams.”

Account Executive Jessica Sacco and Digital Services Manager Chelsea Belliveau were also honored during the awards ceremony. Both were named among 45 other public relations agency professionals from across the country as “Rising PR Stars 30 & Under.” The award honors blossoming public relations leaders excelling at communications.

“The clients we work with at JGPR have a meaningful impact on people’s lives, and I am thankful to be able to play a small role alongside them,” Belliveau said. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for my colleagues and am proud to be part of a team that has worked so hard to make this company the success it is today.”

PR News also recognized the Top Places to Work in PR, awarded Diversity and Inclusion Campaigns and inducted five public relations industry leaders into its Hall of Fame. Click here for more information on the ceremony and to view a complete list of winners.

Re: Driscoll Award

Are you aware that his PR firm was hired at the recommendation of Patty White Lambright. Yes it's true. They are long-time 'friends' (ahem) both from Georgetown. Melrose School System is so incestuous.

Re: Driscoll Award

Hats off. Anyone who could possibly spin the recent mega-public relations super-disasters over the last couple of years at the Melrose School Department and School Committee and leave them smelling any better than elephant $hit is deserving of such an award.

Re: Driscoll Award

Sorry but they still walk, talk, and smell like the fecal matter they are. The dressed-up disasters appear exactly as that, badly covered over festering messes that are only worsening by the day.

Re: Driscoll Award

This government pr business sickens me. Corporations are private entities. They can use pr firms for their own benefit. They are not governments of the people, by the people and for the people.

Democracy itself is placed in jeopardy when governments are allowed to distort the facts and truths - either themselves or through pr firms. When the unvarnished truth isn't freely available to the public, when government gets to rewrite it to mislead citizens, democracy and freedom is put at risk.

The Guilfoil pr firm may win awards within the realm of manipulators and liars but must be run out of town for its conspiracy with politicians to abuse democracy.

Re: Driscoll Award

Well spoken, Orwellian! Not sure if I have ever heard of another Melrose government body ever using a PR firm to do their communications. This only goes to show that the school committee needed help to manipulate the negative narrative to residents and to put a spin on the bad news.

Driscoll and her cohorts should be run out of town! But instead the mother's group click will keep voting this wretched person into office each election period. All the new people on the committee have been a dismal failure in controlling Driscoll's anti-democratic actions and lack of transparency.

Re: Driscoll Award

It's time to drain our own swamp, starting with this basket of deplorable SC members, each and every one of them.

Maybe the Cemetery Commission has a place for them to serve out their term along with the other criminals....

Re: Driscoll Award

The word is Mayor Dolan has knowledge of this term being taken place at the cemetery. The SC and Mayor need to leave the drain needs to be dry.

Re: Driscoll Award

English, please.

Re: Driscoll Award

Of course I'll get you a fake award just like I did CT after the OCR guilty finding. What are uncles who are a head of DESE for?
