Even if local officials believe no one wants to run, a nomination notice must be sent to all members, and nominations for each office must take place each term. What a way to start a union leaving one person out. Shunning - The Ultimate Rejection, not nice members.
The beat goes on, and the beat goes on, people! This is how the city knows how to conquer. Always, with a cover-up in the city and yes, Mayor Dolan has all the say over Superintendent Taymore. Melrose newest SC will harm the already no vote, over ride school districts. This city is all tapped out like try to park in downtown Melrose.
The school systems and justice system know that bullying is going on, how they choose to deal with it is questionable, ignore it, punish it, or educate about it, which works better. Which ever works better the school will do the opposite. Shameful, you got bullied by union members.
How can bullying affect the workplace? Bullying affect the overall "health" of an organization. An "unhealthy" work place can have many effects. In general their absents is one effect you will notice. The bullies are ones who use strength or influence to harm or intimidate those who are weak, Talking gossip, innuendo and malicious rumors.
Not even sure if it's smart, the people that see through all the BS. What they're REALLY thinking is "as you sow, so shall you reap" You can dream about your goals all you want, but you won't ever reach them if you don't do anything to achieve them! My JOY is all the children I have helped in my career.
Nice way to sum up your point. The teachers went through a similar incident. Five years ago, NB was president of the teachers union. On the merits she was found guilty of the charges brought against her. No one wanted to run for officer so she became president a second term. Superintendent Taymore had her hands in that situation like she does now. Divide and Conquer is the plan. Come with the teachers union you will be safe with LD.
How much money did NB coat the city of Melrose? Nice job SC.[Israel][USA]
You mean how much did it cost the city.
This town is ignorant and actually pretty backwards. It's not about being smarter. It appears Melrosians want the "same ole BS" Melrose who deserved better is just so dumb. It has failed to distance themselves.
It is what it is in Melrose. Do not buy a house in Melrose for the school system.
Reading this string management violated numerous laws. Immediately, when the para MLR was allowed to use the superintendents sever back in the spring. This union member is in collusion with management. CT, MLR and PN should of stayed neutral as the union attempted to organize its members and allow the election to take its process. No, so many more violation and no retake of the vote. How many days did it take to count 75 votes? That should tell you why MLR is back in. To negotiate the paras contract for her to retire with some benefits. She, has caused too much damage as it is now. The paras union should ask to take a vote for the teachers union soon. MTA Phyllis did what she needed to do. So bring in the new MTA rep. Wake Up Everybody.
Hello paras. Yet again Marylou and company are pulling a fast one. No notification was given to the paras, except those on their approved list and brown-nosers, that there is a para meeting today in Lynnfield to meet with the MEA. Our union is so corrupt as is MTA REP. Phyllis. I think they all share adjoining rooms with Taymore as they're all in bed together.
Racist
Rat
Psycho
Porky
Alkie
Dumbo
They're pathetic, reprehensible, incompetent, spurious sellouts to our union.
Meeting was for officers only.
Self-Worth is the group on the board and the hollow MTA. The paras union received an email with no signature " unknown" implausible! Vote for the teachers union, the paras need strength in numbers which they continue not to demonstrate.
Things your union cannot do. 1. Attend any union meeting, park-across the street from the hall or engage in any undercover activity which would indicate that the employees are being kept under surveillance to determine who is and who is not participating in the union program. Survey 93% of union members never vote. The illegal vote MLR, encouraged union members was under 10%. The voters from union members household liked Trump.
Kathy B. is a fake, evil bit¢h. Let's look at her employment record for Melrose. She was called in before school administrators and METCO for treating an elementary aged child badly enough that the then principal of the Roosevelt transferred her out. Next she landed for a short stint at the Horace Mann until it was made clear she was unwelcome after deliberately sabotaging a teacher who was fired. Transferred again landing at MHS were she as VP of the para union fed information to management about union strategies and putting derogatory remarks in writing about a para she was supposed to be representing. She was instrumental in getting that para fired as well. Then the school posts a nonunion position for a job coach which requires a college degree. The reason Kathy didn't get that position in the past, no degree. So, management changed the criteria for the job to suit Kathy and guess what. She got it. Nice little payoff for selling coworkers out.
Good riddance to old rubbish. I remember we all wore black in solidarity against her and what she did. phoney as a $3 bill.
The MTA has no morals, Melrose needs to look for another organization. MTA is dissolving and what transpired with the MTA and paraprofessionals was obnoxious. NOW, paras are forced to go with teachers. Many union members are lacking trust and confidence in the officers.
The PR Machine is still managing to keep hold of these well-meaning but naive parents, feeding them just enough to let them think they are having an effect and that they can feel proud being part of a "positive" process. They don't realize how they have been co-opted and are being used. They don't realize that they are only being given just enough information to make them Believe.
Hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Paras hope you realize who is still running the union. Mary Lou R. and Cindy T. I am a retired para and I used the agency fee. You still belong to the union and it is half the payment.
"No one should be fooled by this revisionist history," what good is a teachers' union that doesn't care about great teaching? "I was disappointed that, as an organization of educators, we couldn't for the moment put aside the charter school issue and national politics. Charter schools are public schools, but operate with freedom from some regulations faced by traditional public schools. The MTA made a statement, but it was a dumb statement. A teachers union that doesn't care about great teaching is just another interest group. Think bigger, MTA. Do not vote on Dec. 6, and you will stay a paras union. Vote and you will become a teachers union. Well, then again it is in someone's pocket. So either way it is her call, and the ballots will get duplicated again this is all fake.
The voting is in the middle school and NOT in an unprejudiced place. The super might think the paras are irrelevant but this is a run-of-the-mill.
Thank you, to the paraprofessionals who voted with good conscience, and the many voters who were not under the swaying of union members or the MTA.
Once, I received the email from JB, I did not vote today. How come the questions came to members the night before voting? Most of the union members did not read their email. The same incidence happened with the last vote that took 48 hours and debatable results. The key is send results out on a Friday night. Joanne B. you did not take all the nominees like you said the board bullied someone. You are not playing the martyr act are you? Most of the members want the concealed board gone, as much as you want out. It seems like this shattered on all of you. Phyllis, told us our contract is good till June, so lets not intimidate union members anymore.
There should be some laws about union practices and interference in them. If something is illegal, you can be sure Melrose is doing it. Get the feds involved.
The para union is so weak and they call us strong. The word strong is for the Boston Marathon. The vote was tallied and concluded by 5 o'clock Dec. 6th. Today, the 7th at 5:29pm one of the co-president sent out a blanket e-mail saying, "about 33% of union members voted and it was almost unanimous" to join the teachers. 1. Why did it take over 24 hours for notification? 2. On the e-mail it also says yesterday at 5;29pm that this same e-mail went to some people and not all why notify some. 3. Why not exact numbers of voters. Why not exact numbers on for or against joining. STILL NO TRANSPARENCY OR TRUST. BTW WE ARE EDUCATIONAL PARAPROFESSIALS NOT PARA EDUCATORS. WE FOUGHT HARD FOR THAT TITLE.
I agree, the strong slogan should go. It is to much like Boston Strong and this union is crumbling right in front of you. The Melrose Paraprofessional Union, is destroyed due to the members, administration, MTA and outside help. I am so happy for the paras to go with the teachers union. The board now has to be demolished due to being scabs and untrusting members. Let's here the truth about the vote because you are talking 20% came out to vote. Do not add the 7 board members. The slogan should go to the MTA Strong because they have no backbone in what corruption just happened in Melrose.
Members question your feedback, but reserve the right to remove any inappropriate comments. "Animosity had given way... to worried solicitude for members safety."
I understand this can only happen in Melrose. It is Chelsea with trees.
From Wicked local:
Mayor Rob Dolan has been named a finalist for the position of Lynnfield Town Administrator.
Dolan was announced as one of two finalists for the Lynnfield position at the town’s Dec. 11 Board of Selectmen meeting.
A screening committee set up to review applicants reported nearly 40 candidates came forward for the position. Of those, a consultant recommended nine candidates, which the committee narrowed down to four.
Dolan and current Lynnfield Assistant to the Administration Robert Curtin are the two finalists that remain in the running for the job.
The following is a statement by Dolan regarding being named a finalist for the position:
“Due to the recently announced departure of the Lynnfield Town Administrator, an unanticipated and unique opportunity arose for me and my family. I chose to explore the position due to the professional opportunity it presents, and I am honored to have been named a finalist for the position of Lynnfield Town Administrator. After much reflection, I have decided to continue on with the process. I have had the privilege of serving the citizens of Melrose for 24 years as an elected official and 16 as mayor. As the selection process continues to unfold, I will keep the citizens of Melrose up to date every step of the way.”
The current Lynnfield Town Administrator, James M. Boudreau, has held the position since 2014, having previously held the same position in Norwell.
Dolan has been Mayor of Melrose since 2002. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1989 and was a member of the Melrose School Committee from 1994 to 1998. From 1998 to 2002 he served on the Board of Aldermen as Alderman-At-Large, and was President of the Board in 2001.
Further updates to this story will be reported when they become available.
From the Boston Globe 3 hours ago: "Should Dolan vacate his seat to take the Lynnfield job prior to the start of the third year of his four-year term on Jan. 8, the Melrose charter provides that a special election would have to be called within 90 days to fill the seat. If the seat became vacant on Jan. 8 or after, it would be filled by the president of the Board of Aldermen, according to city solicitor Robert Van Campen."
Simply put, if Dolan is selected for the job and wants to keep the current President of the Board of Alderman and local Republican Don Conn from finishing out his term, he simply needs to vacate his seat before January 8th. That would force a special election which would probably result in a Democrat being elected.
Mayor Dolan comes out let us know if he got the job.
MELORSE, MA — There are Melrosians driving cars today that have never known life without Mayor Robert Dolan in charge. Now, after Dolan was unanimously approved as Lynnfield Town Administrator in a Wednesday night meeting, all eyes are on who will be next.
Dolan's 16-year-run indisputably transformed Melrose. While there is much to reflect on and celebrate, many are now asking who will take his place.
Much hinges on just when Dolan vacates the Mayor's office.

The City Charter states that if a vacancy occurs within the first two years of a term, then a special election will be held within 90 days of the vacancy. The winner of that election would hold the office until the initial term of the original mayor was set to expire.
If the office becomes vacant after the beginning of the mayor's third year, the president of the Board of Aldermen would assume the role of mayor. You can read the Section 3-10 of the City Charter below.
The third year of Dolan's four-year term would begin Jan. 8. The Mayor's office told Patch the date Dolan would vacate office is still undetermined.
Dolan is expected to start in Lynnfield in early February.
President Donald Conn Jr. lost his reelection bid in November and will leave office Jan. 8. The incoming board chose Mike Zwirko to succeed Conn on Dec. 4, but that was in a nonbonding caucus. A formal vote will take place on Jan. 8, and it's now looking like a more competitive race.
The Melrose Free Press reports Aldermen John Tramontozzi, Gail Infurna, and Monica Medeiros will be vying for the presidency now that it could essentially be a vote for mayor.
While some residents may be surprised to hear a person who was never on the mayoral ballot may be running the city, the City Charter makes the process clear. The charter was recently reviewed, and Patch was told the provision regarding a mayoral vacancy was not brought up for consideration.

The central office and more need to keep cleaning the swamp in Melrose. Waiting, for Smellrose board to eject themselves from being scabs on the Paraprofessional Union Board. This is NOT, setting a good example for the union in Melrose. Most are looking forward to the honest and sturdy teachers union. Hopefully, the scabs stay silent and excuse themselves quickly. What a absolute disgrace on the action of some union members. Over wanting the teachers union all along was the master plan. Encouraging news from the email, building reps. will have to be more qualified. The paraprofessional buld reps. are very uneducated to represent a union member.
The union is at a time where it is not appreciated by members. Some schools you have building reps. just because they enjoy knowing what is going on and will tell all. Or you have one that won't even let you know they are your buld. rep. Or you have a rep. that decides to not be the building rep. and is not helpful.
In our building we did not have a rep. at all. If we did no one knew it.
As for me, I've had a lot of jerks come and go in my life, and as I sat down to write this post, I tried to think of the biggest jerks of all of them. My list came out to Seven.
Melrose paras hope the teachers union take us on as Mary lou R. and Joanne B. our two co-presidents announced they are retiring June 2018. I believe the teachers will come forward and take paras on like they did the secretaries. If not we need members to think about running for the paras union and not like some of the dishonest members we have in office now.
I don't know about the MEA taking us. They said no according to the board. You officers ran now you need to get your butts in gear, figure this stuff out and straighten it out. How many months have you been in, seven of you and you can't get your act together? They gave you till next month. Get advice for the MTA and work together, give a little effort or get out.
