I just learned that Melrose Messages was shut-down for a few weeks. Can anyone verify that information and why did that happen?

Re: Melrose: A Community Open to All" is just a sick PR slogan, at least or until this community de

Here's the answer to another dumb question: A private citizen, Patricia Wright, pays out of her own pocket so that this site can function. She doesn't check the site when idiots, for example, flood the page with idiocy (like the site with 64,000+ hits, most from TK who routinely writes, or has one of his kids post, the same nonsensical reposted crap, all mostly true, of course, but which drives up the cost for keeping the site up and eventually uses up the bandwidth so that more has to be purchased.

Re: Melrose: A Community Open to All" is just a sick PR slogan, at least or until this community de

Down, down Melrose I don't want too let you go. Sweet, sweet Melrose I just want too let you grow. Nice rhythm to it. Melrose needs to wake up.[Owned]

Re: Melrose: A Community Open to All" is just a sick PR slogan, at least or until this community de

You can not be a teacher with that comment. Teacher's always reply saying no question is too dumb in my class. You should not ever say the words again. Hopefully you are not going into teaching.

Re: Melrose: A Community Open to All" is just a sick PR slogan, at least or until this community de

Answer. There's an answer for the answer. One; have you ever spoken to TK? Have you ever met him? Have you met his wife? If you have, he will talk your ear off. So why are you bothering making an accusation without backing it up? To let you know, I know him. And I called him, and he looked at the post, and do you know what he said? You are a silly man or woman. You should just come on over for a cup of coffee. I will guarantee you as his friend, he will talk your ear off. And he loves a great debate. Especially if you can't back any of it up. But here's the sad part for you. He lives here in Melrose, his number is listed, his children have all graduated from college and high school and he has great kids. He is very much a family man. He has been married for thirty years. He has a wonderful wife. So before you do any more typing, get in your **** car and pay him a visit. He welcomes everybody. He has been in Melrose for well over 20 years, very well informed of what is going on, even as a commercial truck driver, working a lot of hours every week almost 60 hours. So if you have something to say, you should show all the respect in the world, about his thoughts, or about his 'alleged posting' that you're saying. You know to make it even more polite here, we should all be grateful that Patricia Wright is taking all this responsibility and running and paying for this website. If it wasn't for her, the truth wouldn't get out. So that is why I suspect that you're from city government or related to somebody in the city government. Either way you're being called out. Oh yeah you're anonymous that's alright, but really if you're going to pick on somebody, I'm sure my friend TK will look forward talking to you, whoever you are. I'm sure he'll show nothing but respect. We can agree to disagree. But he did say one thing, which was interesting. He says apparently you're an avid visitor on the melrose message board. He said that he would give me a call if you came to his residence. I'm in the phone book, my wife and I. Don't block your number, it'll show up. Call from the cellphone and I'll just do a reverse lookup and find who you are. People are just looking for the truth.

Re: Melrose: A Community Open to All" is just a sick PR slogan, at least or until this community de

The poster is correct when he says that constant reposting of the same stuff over and over again does lead to exceeding he number of allowable posts. It has happened several times is the past. Ms Wright sometime removes entire strings so as to free up space for new posts. I don't know if that's what she did this time or whether she purchased more space, but that's not the point. I have no idea who's doing it, and I don't care. Take a look at some of the mindless idiotic garbage posted and reposted ad infinitum in just the "More Staff Leaving The High School" string.

Ms. Wright, take that string down. It will free up room for almost a thousand new posts.

Re: Melrose: A Community Open to All" is just a sick PR slogan, at least or until this community de

The way some people like the posters name (answer) was totally out of line.

We as posters had no idea that a Patricia Wright owned this site. I will

limit my post not to have this site shut down again.

I feel the post have hit a nerve in the administration's department and the

truth hurts. Parents also learn through the post on what is happening in

the schools. Parents have no idea on what is going on unless it is

addressed to them. Parents are so busy and its super there is a web-site to

keep the city in place. Cheers to Patricia Wright for saving Melrose.

Re: Melrose: A Community Open to All" is just a sick PR slogan, at least or until this community de

BOSTON, MA – The controversial "Second Boston Free Speech Rally" will move forward Saturday amid concerns over safety in the wake of violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, last weekend. On Wednesday, the city granted a permit to the Boston Free Speech Coalition, the group behind the demonstration, for 100 people and several security stipulations.

According to the "Second Boston Free Speech Rally" Facebook page, the demonstration is expected to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. But city officials have made it clear that law enforcement will have a "zero tolerance" policy and will shut the rally down if anyone gets out of hand.

Patch will be live at Boston Common Saturday. Subscribe to Boston Patch for breaking news alerts and live updates. Will you be attending? Send your photos and account to mike.carraggi@patch.com.
Speakers

Scheduled speakers include U.S. Senate candidate Shiva Ayyadurai, congressional candidate Samson Racioppi, former Infowars writer Joe Biggs and activist Kyle "Based Stickman" Chapman.

Vice co-founder and "Proud Boys" leader Gavin McInnes and right-wing activists Tim Gionet — known as "Baked Alaska" — Cassandra Fairbanks and Augustus Invictus have bowed out of the rally.
Who Will Be Attending?

The exact number of people who will be at Saturday's rally is in dispute. Based on social media, "thousands" of pro- and anti-rally demonstrators are expected to attend, but the actual number could be far less.

According to NBC, the ANSWER Coalition, which is staging a "Stand for Solidarity" counter-protest with the Coalition to Organize and Mobilize Boston Against Trump and several local organizations at the State House at 11 a.m., has about 10,000 people interested in the event on Facebook.

A demonstration organized by Black Lives Matter, "Fight Supremacy," raised more than $20,000 by Thursday night and has more than 10,000 expected attendees, NBC reported. That protest will begin at 10 a.m. at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center and march to the Boston Common, where it is expected to merge with the ANSWER Coalition. Both organizations have not received permits for their demonstrations, according to NBC.Black Lives Matter and the ANSWER Coalition have strongly disavowed violence from either side at the event. Antifa, which also does not have a permit, is expected to show up, but the loosely organized group has not officially confirmed its presence.

Thomas Robb, national director of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, told the Boston Herald the hate group is expected to have a presence at the rally. He said members from Springfield will attend, and he "assumes" members from the Boston area will also be going.Rally organizers have sought to differentiate it from the demonstration in Charlottesville and strongly condemned the hate movement in repeated statements this week. Organizer John Medlar told the Herald he will not allow the rally to be "hijacked" by the KKK and will "immediately denounce" anyone with a swastika or people saluting Hitler.

On Monday, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh told any hate groups planning to attend to stay home and reiterated his message at a press conference Friday.

"The governor and I made it very clear we don't want hate groups to come to our city or our state," Walsh said. "We will not tolerate any incitements of violence. We are taking every precaution necessary to keep our city safe.Safety Measures

The Boston Police Department said rally attendees can expect a "large police presence" of both uniformed and undercover officers, and the department will deploy fixed video cameras and mobile video support teams. About 500 police officers will be at the Common, according to the Associated Press.Visitors to the Boston Common are strongly discouraged from bringing backpacks, large bags or strollers. These items may be subject to search, and there will be no designated storage area to leave belongings.

The following items are prohibited:

Firearms, knives, weapons, sharp objects, shields or fireworks
Pop-up tents or canopies
Cans, glass containers, pre-mixed beverages or alcoholic beverages
Wagons or pull carts
Coolers
Drones
Pets (excluding certified service animals)

Update 7:15 p.m.:

John Medlar, who says he is an organizer for Boston Free Speech, thanked and updated supporters in a series of Facebook posts, where he blamed Mayor Marty Walsh for the “free speech” rally’s low turnout.

Medlar also thanked the Boston Police, who “literally saved our lives today,” he wrote.

Update 5:46 p.m.:

Here’s a look at a handful of photos from Boston Globe photographers who were near the Boston Common.

Update 5:30 p.m.:

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and Police Commissioner William Evans seemed pleased with the day’s events and police response, as indicated by their remarks during a press conference shortly after 4:30 p.m.Walsh thanked the people who came out to share the message of “love not hate,” as well as the emergency personnel who worked the scene.

“I think it’s clear today that Boston stood for peace and love, not bigotry and hate,” Walsh said.As of the press conference, police had made 27 arrests, mostly for disorderly conduct but also “a couple” for assault and battery on police officers and other charges, according to Evans. He said some officers were hit with bottles of urine, and police tweeted that rocks were being thrown at officers. No serious injuries or significant property damage occurred, Evans added.

Evans didn’t attribute the bad behavior to rally-goers or counter-protesters, but rather a third group.

“Obviously I wish the troublemakers stayed away,” he said. “ … They weren’t here for either side. They were here just to cause problems.”

Evans said, “99.9 percent of people here were for the right reasons, and that’s to fight bigotry and hate.”

Three people “with ballistic vests” were stopped by officers, and later police found a gun with one of the vests, according to Evans.

“There were people, I think, who came here to cause some harm,” he said, “but we were lucky to get those three out of here.”Evans became the most animated after a reporter said organizers alleged speakers were unable to get to the “free speech” rally.

“We had a job to do; we did a great job,” he said. “I’m not going to listen to people who come in here and want to talk about hate. And you know what, if they didn’t get in, that’s a good thing ’cause their message isn’t what we want to hear.”

Overall, Evans called it a “great day for the city.”

“I’m really impressed,” he said. “We probably had 40,000 people out here, standing tall against hatred and bigotry in our city, and that’s a good feeling.”

Update 4:43 p.m.:

President Donald Trump has again tweeted about the Boston demonstrations, as well as protests more generally.

Re: Melrose: A Community Open to All" is just a sick PR slogan, at least or until this community de

I attended the Boston rally. Police presence was everywhere: foot patrol, bikes, horses, riot, undercover, FBI. The only potential for fear was maybe a terrorist action as there were protesters there with dark backpacks. People were friendly, telling they're stories. It felt like one community working together. Some of the signs were fantastic and very clever. I did see a number of people with their faces covered by hankies so not to be recognised. If you are not planning on starting something why cover up? The barricade between the two sides was quite wide. The City of Boston should be proud of the proactive way they prepared and were on top of the few situations that arose. I know Mayor Walsh would have preferred we didn't attend but he knew that was unlikely. They even used heavy machinery and buses to block streets from cars crashing into people. I'm glad I went. It was important to remind these racists that Boston is Strong. I hope the rally they have in Melrose this week is a success. I'll be away and cannot attend. I know many are away on vacation as I will be but I do hope people come out to show support for our community as we don't have the best reputation in the area of racism.

First read the findings from the Office of Civil Rights OCR against Melrose Public Schools MPS with a guilty finding on four counts. It's public record. Then research the Boston Globe on stories of racism in Melrose and in the Melrose papers and on line. You'll read words/sentences like "go back to the plantation", "master", "slave", "separate the student's of color", "the students of color continue to sit in the back". And what about the swastikas written in the snow outside the Horace Mann, on the walls of MVMMS, the Jewish headstones that were recently desecrated. Where have you been? Don't you read or are you too busy either burying your head in the sand or brown-nosing those who perpetrate these atrocities. Melrose cannot heal as a community until it recognizes what is wrong, accepts responsibility and institutes a zero tolerance policy and not just by words, by example.

Oh no...I do get it! You folks lost the election and still can't get over it so you figure to blame everything on President Trump! Calling everyone who voted for him racists, holding rallies, creating violence, and then telling everyone how much you hate hateful people....look in the mirror to find the real problem!

Re: Melrose: A Community Open to All" is just a sick PR slogan, at least or until this community de

OMG that person's post wasn't political but you want to make it that. I voted for Trump and even I can tell fact from fiction. Do the math. Guilty OCR findings, hiring of PR firm, hiring of outside attorneys who specialize in complaints against school systems. Read the writing on the wall. There IS hate in Smelrose. There IS hate in our city and schools. There have been multiple stories about Melrose in the local and NE papers about race complaints and guilty findings. Melrose is a REPUBLICAN city. Always has and will always be. We have had hate crimes here before Taymore and Trump and apparently we will continue to have it here after Taymore is gone. After Trump is gone because it's Neo-Nazis like you that breed hate. Like Charlottesville told the KKK, WE DON'T WANT YOU HERE!!

Re: Melrose: A Community Open to All" is just a sick PR slogan, at least or until this community de

A reminder that although we clearly have a school administration here that pervasively discriminates against minorities as concluded by the DOE's Office of Civil Rights, the persecution against children with disabilities by our school administration (with tentacles reaching into City Hall) is far broader and widespread in comparison. However, the documented stories of the administration's harassment, bullying, retaliation and intimidation of these poor families is beyond belief. But sadly, it is not a sensational enough story that makes for front page headlines. Those children and parents are the truly forgotten here in in Melrose.

The new group MORE: Melrose Organizes for Real Equality apparently is not "open to all". I tried to access their Facebook page now and it is a closed group. You have to be approved to view it or participate. A neighbor told us that some guy named "Sam" asked if they could post on the MORE page on behalf of the official Melrose Democratic City Committee. He was pushing a brunch and canvassing event for a candidate running for Alderman which is happening today. Is MORE a formal part of the Melrose Democratic City Committee? Are other Democratic candidates canvassing schedules being promoted by MORE? Are Unenrolled or Republican folks running for office allowed to promote themselves? Is this organization which says they promote equality and inclusion only for certain candidates or politicians? We just moved to Melrose this summer and registered to vote as Democrats. I find it interesting and somewhat concerning that MORE would push for a particular candidate, would have a closed Facebook group and require approval in order to access information about them. This Sam (guy from the Democratic Committee) pushing for the Bewtra candidate made a mistake
