Re: More Staff Leaving the High School II ???

Hey, kids aren't failing school-school is failing kids. For many kids, what they learn in high school isn't preparing them for success in college or in their career. A new report delves into how our education system is letting them down. "It doesn't cost one penny more to have higher expectations for kids, to actually believe that kids-low-income kids, kids of color, English-language learners-can succeed." Are they asking questions, or zoning out during a lecture that requires no participation?-and ensure that their lessons are pulling kids forward, not letting them stay stuck.

1. Parents are not involved enough.

2. Schools are closing left and right.

3. Our schools are overcrowded.

4. Technology comes with its downsides.

5. There is a lack of diversity in gifted education.

6. School spending is stagnant, even in our improving economy.

7. We are still using the teacher training methods of yesterday.

8. There is a lack of teacher education innovation.

9. Some students are lost to the school-to-prison pipeline.

10. There is a nationwide college-gender gap, and surprisingly, we are not focusing on it.

11. We still do not know how to handle high school dropouts.

12. We have not achieved education equity.

13. Technology brings a whole new dimension to cheating.

14. We still struggle with making teacher tenure benefit both the students and teachers.

15. More of our schools need to consider year-round schooling.

16. We are still wrestling the achievement gap.

17. We need to consider how school security measures affect students.

18. We need to make assistive technology more available for students with disabilities.
