What a surprise
so they finally posted the vacant job coach position for students in the post grad class. can we guess who's likely to get the position even though they have no degree, is the feeder of info of coworkers both teacher and para to management and is physically unable to perform the requirements. if you guessed Kathy that's who I'm betting on too. no real post grad teacher like they had under casey. cheryl was great.

If you look at the post it reads a degree is preferred. It does not say necessary. It also states that the job coach works under the sped teacher.

There was always a special ed teacher assigned specifically to the post grad students. CT forced that teacher out. Then to save money placed the post grad students in with the MHS class. What the MHS class learns differs from the life skills the post grad students learn. The post grad students always had two job coaches who had degrees in education and are furthering their education. The ONLY TIME someone is hired into a position that requires a degree in education and that degree is passed over is when someone in power hires a friend, relative, rodent or owes a favor. Everything in the school on rules can be over-ridden by the superintendent. If it were for legitimate reasons which would be rare and perhaps understandable, but to not have a post grad sped teacher and an uneducated job coach is negligent all at the student's expense to save a few bucks and reward the bottom feeders.
My message to the school administration and the school committee and our superintendent; if you folks aren't retaliating against other folks that file these complaints, people probably wouldn't go to the message board, but I guess we're at the point, that the message board is having an impact. Because the truth is being spoken, and maybe that is starting to bother the administration folks, our superintendent and probably making our mayor a lot more nervous now. There concern should be, what is the next scandal that is going to happen, if it isn't a scandal, or do we have more corruption coming our way? Maybe the one thing that you should keep in mind is, social media will sure as hell not shut it down. So you need to all grow up, and realize that a lot of the bull that has been going on for sometime needs to end.

How far can KB nose go up the super's butt? She should of got her degree while waiting 4 years.

In the district of the HM a family and a business owner in Melrose have said the HM was a big disappointment too them. The oldest goes to Reading, and the other three too Malden.

Yes, Austin Prep in Reading and the Charter School in Malden....NOT the Reading or Malden Public Schools...better schools than HM or MVMMS....

Ct and the crew are trying so hard to have this site taken down. Patricia Wright do not listen to them. Posters watch out she is desperately trying to get More Staff Leaving the High School off her agenda. The truth always prevails when you are dishonest.

Their political power will be nearing an end, however. Their credibility is exactly zero with all of us who have figured out what they're all about. They probably think none of us has noticed .

Best High Schools In Massachusetts For 2018: Report

As the 2017-18 school year kicks off, parents and students heading to their first day of school can see how their high school stacks up against others in the state as Niche.com has released its annual rankings of best public high schools in the country.

The 2018 rankings released this month rank elementary, middle and high schools as well as school districts. We put lists together for each.

To arrive at these rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data and ratings collected from Niche users. The methodology for each category of ranking varied. (Click here for more information on how Niche calculates its rankings.)

Niche assigns a standardized score for each factor, which is then weighted before an overall score is calculated for each school district. The overall scores are again standardized and some districts are disqualified from receiving a final letter grade if there isn’t enough data. School districts are then ranked numerically and assigned grades.According to Niche, these are the best public high schools in Massachusetts (You can see the full list here.):

Massachusetts Academy of Math & Science (Worcester)
Lexington
Wellesley
Newton North
Boston Latin
Newton South
Brookline
Belmont
Weston
Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter (Marlborough)
Acton-Boxborough Regional
Westford Academy
Lincoln-Sudbury Regional
Wayland
Cambridge R&L
Algonquin Regional
Needham
Amherst Regional
Westborough
Concord-Carlisle
Bedford
Westwood
Hopkinton
Sturgis Charter (Hyannis)
Dover-Sherborn Regional

Niche ranked the Solon City School District in Solon, Ohio the best school district in the country. With an overall Niche grade of A+, the district received a grade of A+ in academics, teachers, clubs and activities, college prep and health and safety. In the category of diversity, Niche awarded the school district an A-.

Niche’s data for its K-12 school district rankings comes from various sources including the U.S. Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics and the Civil Rights Data Collection. The rankings also rely on data that is self-reported by Niche users and schools. (Click here to learn more about where Niche’s data comes from.)

What do you think of the rankings?

Ms. Cindy Taymore is not getting up the doremifasolatido! She should not be fooled again by the school committee, parents, residents, mayor and others. The money is given to her administration, not the educators.

Wait until MEF Jen McA and Margaret D begin to compete and clash during SC meetings.
DOlan will back Jen for SC Chair.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Not bad work - 6 months of work for full pay - with plenty of vacation days, sick days, professional development days, early release days, and personal days! While the rest of us in the dreaded private sector try to earn enough money to pay our taxes so that we can pay our teachers and admin staff for an under-performing school system! Yep! this all makes common sense to me!

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Just drive past MHS/Central Admin anytime during the summer and most of the time the parking lot is nearly empty. Central Admin (and the various elem principals, all just as useless and corrupt) gives itself huge swaths of time off, even when they are supposed to be on the job and are being paid by us, the taxpayers. Then the swindle continues as they Take Back huge swaths of "unused" vacation time when they pack up their very large Golden Parachutes to greener pastures and/or "retirement" (aka lucrative taxpayer-funded so-called consultantships for DESE by these so-called "experts" regardless of their miserable track records of failure in Melrose). And still the dumb Melrose public slumbers....

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Good evening to all of you. I have a big question for Margaret Driscoll, melrose school committee, our mayor Dolan and all of you at home. For me it seems like they are not thinking about education anymore, they're thinking about adding people to the administration which is top heavy. I'm going to refer to these people who help out in the classroom to people who enjoy what they're doing and they care about the kids. They don't get paid a lot of money, and when I hear elected officials possibly talking about eliminating them, the big question becomes, what is their agenda? Yes folks, I'm asking that question, what is Margaret Driscoll's agenda. Is she trying to prepare herself to move up the ladder to be business manager, sooner then later? That's the way that I look at it. It's only a thought, and an opinion. But the bigger concern here is, is the education of every single child that attends the melrose public school system. Lets shine a little more light on this, it's not about the teachers being against the peers, or the peers against the teachers. This is really about education here. So I would say to every family in melrose, please make sure you call the mayors office and let him know how you feel about this. And make sure you call everybody on the school committee, I know from my own personal experience, paraprofessionals really do a good job. Some folks might not like what I'm saying, but it's time to make your opinions known to all, not just the school committee, board of alderman, our mayor, and our superintendent. Education is important and for those of who have forgotten about it, shame on you. What's more important, having another administration person or having paraprofessionals? I think that it is important that we use every avenue that we have available to educate every student and any student that has an IEP where the paraprofessional can come into play. It's sad when we have elected officials that don't really look at the big picture. Maybe because their children never had any difficulties in school. Please do not think that I am stepping over the line because I am sure as hell not. This is Melrose, sometimes you need to spell it out very clearly to all. So for those of you that think that you all have the answers, think again. What do I mean by that? Everyone of you should think of it as your own child being educated here. This is not about pointing fingers at one another. This is not about the teachers union. Sticking up for paraprofessionals, why change something if it has been working for all these years? The only thing that I can think of, is that melrose public school systems, under our current superintendent hasn't thought about or seeked the funds to teach a lot of these children in house instead of sending them to other places. Maybe because it seems to me that they just like to create more administration jobs. It's just an opinion. So let's all wake up. And ask the interesting question; what is important here in melrose for an education. Hiring more teachers or hiring more administration folks that do not deal with the children. Okay folks, I'm looking forward to hearing about your comments and thoughts.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Learning commons in MHSlights stay on all the time. Ms. Paymore would not like this.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

She just wants to profile the crown jewel of the High school according to Dolan: A 3.5 million dollar hangout for unsupervised, unruly kids.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Lookout! Looks like one of JenMcA's cronnies just pulled papers for SC. She's trying to take over the SC with her MEF agenda.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

She could be an ex-con for all I care. If her agenda is to get rid of Taymore, I'm voting for her. The schools have been sliding since CT has been here, (despite Guilfoil's PR ************ the DESE numbers don't lie) and the Melrose School District has been disgraced Nationally in the press with news of rampant civil rights violations against students with disabilities and minorities. Add on top of that multiple Open Meeting Law violations and Public Records violations and it's just one big God-awful mess.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

What's going on in Melrose? That's a good question to all the taxes payers. wake up people - the SC hires the superintendent.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

How much longer does superintendent T have on her contract? How long does the high school principal get a contract for?

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

You have every right to be concerned about Ms. Cindy Taymore have on her contract?A good question?

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

It seems to be that she is passing out her gifts. CT knows her days will be near.

Gifts for the secretary and her family members.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

This all started with the the election of arrogant and incompetent school committee members headed by self-serving chairpersons. They dish our enough favors to remain in office for years - developing a school network to ensure re-election for years to come .

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

The poster above is correct.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Don't be an idiot! There is absolutely no reason why someone can't have other business interests and still be Mayor - how parochial your thinking is! What is the justification to eliminate a whole segment of our population for this position - none!
Who really wants political hacks running the city decade after decade - better to institute term limits if we keep to having full time Mayors. Change the charter now!!!!!!

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

All parents, residents, staff should be attending this meeting to stop CT for one more day as superintendent of Melrose schools.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Our forefathers would be rolling over in their graves if they saw that the majority of Melrose residents would be prohibited from being mayor simply because they owned a local business or a practice or a farm. They specifically wanted local representation to local, state and Federal government to be a temporary duty that you did as sacrifice for your country, state or town. They specifically did NOT want career politicians or aristocracy controlling these positions, particularly in their local governments. There was NEVER a prohibition against continuing the family business of farming, etc. No politician had to divest themselves of their farms, their businesses, their practices. For. what would they do when they completed their term?? The undemocratic Melrose model is a highly unusual practice for cities and towns even by today's standards. Let's make Melrose a Democracy again!

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Melrose is tapped out and will not go any further.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Obviously this person has never attended a SC meeting. Attend one and find out the indifference, the rude manner, in which you are treated by Chair Driscoll! It is insulting to see this SC in action.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

The poster above is correct.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Even though it's quite probable that the majority of Melrosians would vote to remove the mayor from the School Committee, only Monica, Scott and Don attempted to move that forward in this week's BOA mtg of which I had the misfortune of watching a re-run (a revolting $hitshow). The rest of them decided that their political alliances with the Executive Branch mattered more than what the citizens should have a chance to vote on or what makes common sense based on 15 years of evidence (the mayor on the SC has been a huge mistake, proven by many actual facts).

This is what happens when the public sits silent and allows politicians to run amock fulfilling their patronage obligations instead of holding true to their oaths of office, as they do here.Don't forget the BOA gets health insurance from the city.

Re: More Staff Leaving the High School?????

Most words apply to Melrose EXCEPT for the part about SC getting paid....

https://www.facebook.com/?sk=h_chr
NAACP Boston Branch

Incremental...

Incremental improvement might be ok when you are running a manufacturing plant making widgets...the process is the process and the widget is the widget.

Incremental improvements cannot and should not be the acceptable standard when we are preparing our children to compete in a fast paced, ever changing global economy. Our children cannot afford incremental improvements to a broken education system. That's one.

Two, the pervasive RACIAL achievement gaps in the Boston Public Schools absolutely cannot wait for the School Committee to get its act together and finally hold the School Administration accountable for doing the job that they are all paid -well- to do. Otherwise, the members need to be replaced...remember the School Committee members get paid to hold the district accountable. We need stronger representation to support our children. We need people who are not satisfied with "incremental improvements". That standard is highly offensive.

Because this district and city are fully capable of tackling this issue of RACIAL achievement gaps and winning...yet both have failed to do so, this is quickly becoming a moral crisis. It is a failure of our children that we cannot continue to accept while some celebrate incremental change.

The Boston Public Schools must move from theory to practice. Now.
