Ell Pond

Apparently $50,000 wasn't enough to completely eliminate the water chestnut "invasion" of Ell Pond. What a shame!

Re: Ell Pond

Hi
Now they are looking for volunteers to kayak around the pond and pull them out!
How about using the water and sewer enterprise fund and get it done by a different vendor?
O WAIT A LOT OF THE FOLKS DON’T KNOW ABOUT THE CORRUPT FUNDS THAT MAKE OUR WATER BILLS OUTRAGEOUS.

Re: Ell Pond

There were indeed a fair number of volunteers who did the best they could (with the heat adding to the brutal conditions), but it's an almost impossible/endless task to expect it to be performed by "hand pulling". My understanding (and I could easily be wrong) is that the company, whose name escapes me now, that performed the work basically has a 'monopoly' in this state. They did remove a substantial amount, but, as one can easily see, not enough! I have not seen the contract with the City, but it obviously must have been "x" number of days for $50K, whether the job was done or not.
