The Grenada Government has confirmed that the country will no longer receive financial assistance from Australia, to build a house of Parliament.
The news was first reported in International Website Abc.net.au.
According to the website the Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbot confirmed that his Government has reneged on an aid pledge to build the new, state of the art building.
It was the votes of Caribbean and African nations that secured Australia's prized seat on the United Nations Security Council.
In Opposition, the Coalition was strongly critical of the way aid was pledged to assist the U.N. campaign, spearheaded by then Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd.
Now in government, it has begun unwinding aid commitments in both regions.
In a news release issued this afternoon the Government says this is extremely difficult news, coming at a time when the project is weeks away from starting."
