National Delurking Week!

Okay, so it was last week, but that's no reason we can't have our own right here. Anyway, National Delurking Week was set up to prompt all the people who lurk on blogs and discussion boards to announce themselves, say hi, and stop being shy. SF Reviews.Net is getting an average of 2500 unique visitors a day, and a lot of them scan the Forum, too.

So...if you've never commented here, do this: just leave a quick reply naming at least one SF/fantasy book you've read lately (whether you liked it or disliked it, I don't care), or naming a book that you really think needs to be reviewed here.

Don't be shy! Come on out! It's nice to meet all of you.

Hi Thomas,

Enjoyed your review of Empire. I think Orson Scot Card has written some really excellent SF and Fantasy but this one sounds flipped out.

Why is it that the right wing nuts always think they're the victims? And the idea that nuts who throw paint on fur coats are comparable to nuts who murder doctors who do medical procedures they don't approve of (or worse) is weird.

Re: National Delurking Week!

Hello. I go by the name of Sniffnoy. I certainly can't say what books I would like you to review, as, after all, those would be books I haven't read. Some personal favorites of mine, though, are (in no particular order) A Song of Ice and Fire, Footfall, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Schrodinger's Cat Trilogy, Foucault's Pendulum, and Spin (the last of which I found out about from this site, so yay). Last few books I read were (going backwards from now) The Jagged Orbit (again on the site's recommendation), rereading Good Omens, and then a whole bunch I found through this site - Spin, Tau Zero, and A Canticle for Leibowitz. I think before that I reread what exists of A Song of Ice and Fire, and I can't remember before that. Next book I read will probably be Battle Royale, as I've been meaning to read that for a while and I found someone who has a copy.

I don't really have much else to say, so generally I don't.

Re: National Delurking Week!

I recently finished the book 'Hunters of Dune', and being a big Frank Herbert fan I was somewhat unsure of the ability of Brian Herbert's (*his son) and Kevin J. Anderson (*whose name sounds soooo familiar, but I can't place immediately) ability to stay true to the vision of his father. I must say i was really surprised that the book (*altho I gathered was midway through a short series) stood well on it's own. And I wondered if you had read any of the other, and forth comming books?

ThanX

Re: National Delurking Week!

You have told your legions of lurkers The Entire and the Rose is brilliant storytelling. I agree. Without reading this site I would have never taken a second glance at a Kay Kenyon title in the bookstores I favour. So: thanks for that! Wonder if the series is selling well? Off to Googleland.

Maybe you just have a thing for Kays.... [/lamejoke]

Hmmm...hadn't thought of that. I can't say having "Kay" in your name guarantees you love here, but maybe there is a positive association. At any rate, I'm glad I helped you discover Kay Kenyon. Responses like yours are why I love doing this!

Re: National Delurking Week!

I've recently read Speaker for the Dead. Now I'm contemplating on whether I should continue and read Xenocide (did I spell that right?), turn and read Shadow of the Hegemon, or take a break and read Foundation.
