I had a question: When I was visiting recently I noticed a loudspeaker and a plaque informing people that this was a site where people could hear information being broadcast during the blockade. This wasn't there when I lived in Peter in the 1990s. Could you tell me when that was put there? |

get yourselves a decent menu. your menu on the first page sucks! apparently ur menu is provided by delux-menus but they must be real amateurs as your sub menus are hopeless for navigating. a pity as ur site has much interesting detail |
Do you have any other comments? |
ya all have put together some interesting facts with good details,so how about creating more pages with specific details of historical attractions and get yourself a menu which works |

We stumbled upon your site expecting to find a page full of ads about shops or stores but we were amazed to find so much detail. Not only about your street. We found the old postcards which are simply fascinating and they opened our eyes to the cultured history of a great city. We would like to thank you guys for your efforts and for giving us a real insight about what we can now expect to see when we visit your city this coming June. |

I'd like to thank the creator of the site for his tremendous work. I find it fascinating and useful at the same time. Though I live in Saint-Petersburg a lot of superb photos make me wish to walk along the streets to enjoy the beauty of the city and look at everything with 'fresh' eyes. |

I would like to stress how informative and interesting I found this Website! Nevsky Prospect seems to be one of the most beautiful streets not only in Russia, but in the whole Europe, a significant example of XIX-century boulevard. Also, I could see many buildings designed by Marian Lalewicz and his friends - Lalewicz after 1917 moved to Poland, where he worked as a prominent neo-classicist, he created imposing structures in Warsaw, like Bank of Agriculture, or Polish National Bank housing estate. And, I found Yeliseevsky trade house, designed by Gabriel Baranowski from Institute of Civil Engineers - what a surprise! I know Baranowski from his excellent book about ICE and architects connected with the Institute, but now I had an opportunity to see his design, I am happy that it survived XX century. Thanks a lot! |

I am fascinated by your account of there being a secret hatch on the back of the horses of the Anichkov Most Horse Tamers statues. I'd like to know more about this, but can't find anything on any other websites. Could you give me some further references. Thank you, Rebecca |

Hi Neil(?), Looking for some illustrations for a document I am editing I ended up on your beautiful website. I am preparing the diaries of a famous sound recording engineer who visited Russia (St. Petersburg) in 1900 and was surfing on the internet. Have a look at my website and look under DOCUMENTS and click on the one at the bottom: THE FRED GAISBERG DIARIES, PART 2. At the moment I am preparing Part 1 (1898-1902) I would like to use certain pictures for my (non-profit) website. Let me know if that is ok. Meanwhile I shall select a few and let you know which ones I would like to use. Thank you very much. I recently bouigh two St. Petersburg postcards. I shall check if they are on your website. If not I shall send you scans. Best wishes, Hugo Strotbaum |

My family & I are going to St. Petersburg while on a Baltic Cruise in early September. I am trying to read as much as I can about what I am going to see. Your website is the best resource available and I love all the history you included...but also the way you explain it in such a fun-to-read way. I really appreciate it--you have helped make our trip even more amazing! So I just wanted to drop you a note to say THANK YOU!! May God bless you! --Brooke |

Dear Sir, WHAT AN AMAZING SITE YOU HAVE! I was looking for information on Nevsky Prospekt shops and came across your website and I am so grateful. I am hoping that in your in depth investigations, you may be able to help. My Great Grandfather owned a shop on Nevsky Prospekt - a block or so away from Sadovaya. The store was called "Strajevsky's Store" and we think sold dry goods. The spelling may be different than I have written as the name was never really translated into English until my grand father arrived in the US in the 1940s. We are going to be in St. Petersburg and would very much like to see this part of our family history. Have you heard of this name? Do you think it could be the House of Arthur that you mention at #23? My great grandfather was Marcus Strajevksy, married to Gita Halpern and we understand were quite well to do because of the store. I understand that they lived in an apartment that spanned the entire first floor of their building (they did have 8 children)and included 2 grand pianos. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give in our search, |
