I am purchasing an 70' MK2 that will require re-finishing the hull and top deck. Did these boats have gelcoat or were they just painted fiberglass?

All Columbia's and for that matter any production fiberglass boats are gel coated. This the main process that enables the manufacturer to get the hull out of the mold. It also saves them the expense of painting the boat.
