Alcohol Law Changes

Is Dolan's "Drinking Buddy, Joe" ( mentioned on another thread on this board ) the same person who is on the Liquor Commission and whose wife works for the Health Department as the Substance Abuse Coalition staff member? I can't believe this is true! Conflict of interest?

Re: Alcohol Law Changes

and just why exactly would anyone who's paid an ounce of attention have trouble believing this? It's the way things are done here, doncha know! They don't think they have to be answerable to anyone for anything.

No, we didn't know. We have only lived in Melrose for two years.

Re: Alcohol Law Changes

OK, as a newby to Melrose you will quickly understand that this message board is for people that like to launch verbal grenades but never do anything. This site is completely irrelevant to everyday life inm Melrose.

Re: Alcohol Law Changes

More importantly, MM Whiners find a reason to whine and complain about anything and everything. Here is an FYI on the liquor commission. It is an unpaid volunteer position that has no authority to do anything. The big debate here is whether to allow restaurants with 25 seats to sell beer and wine because right now only restaurants with 50 seats can...and whether restaurants with 50 seats can have a full bar because right now only those with 100 seats can...and none of it is decided by anyone other than the Board of Alderman. Conflict of interest? NO. Melrose Messages whining? Yes
This is the biggest non-issue of the year...but the liars here will try to get you to believe Dolan plugged a buddy in for big bucks and kick backs.

For the record, the volunteer boards in this community have dozens of citizens, all unpaid, who put a tremendous amount of time and effort into the process of serving on their collective boards. Dolan is connected to them in one way or another because they were recommended to him, or he knew them personally, and asked them to serve many hours, evenings and weekends at zero pay. Only the losers on this board would try to taint what is an otherwise phenomenal community effort to make Melrose a great place to live.

Re: Alcohol Law Changes

Again, it IS absolutely the "biggest non-issue of the year".
