GENDER/IDENTITY POLITICS

When then the BOA votes Monday evening to establish a Melrose Commission on Women, any male alderman who opposes it would probably find himself locked out of the house when he got home and labeled a misogynist.
Yet, there there should be cause for concern. Despite the fact that
we already have a Human RIghts Commission, Melrose Alliance Against Violence Commission. Birth to Five, and the League of Women Voters, the Mayor and Alderman Lemmermann believe we need “to provide a unified voice to promote issues in the community, such as family policies, equal pay and women’s health, etc..”
Sounds more like gender/Identity politics - which is a political style that focuses on the issues relevant to various groups defined by a wide variety of shared characteristics, including, race, social class, religion, sex, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.
I suspect a number of Melrose women resent having a Commission established to meet their special needs. According to Atlantic Magazine, in America today, women earn the majority of bachelor’s and graduate degrees. “An escalating number of single women younger than 30 earn more than their male peers. Nine out of ten jobs job industries with the most projected growth are women-dominated. Finally, in 40 percent of American marriages, the wife earns more than the husband. “
Maybe it’s time for the Mayor to establish a Melrose Commission on Men headed by a male alderman. Could come in handy for the Alderman on election day. (Why should the Mayor single out any
Alderman to create a Commission ?”)

Julie De Lillo, The Village Voice what makes you so afraid and angry?

Re: GENDER/IDENTITY POLITICS

I would lock my husband out of the house if he supported it.

Re: GENDER/IDENTITY POLITICS

With all the important issues the city has to deal with - such as school OCR law suits, school/city budget needs, school/union negotiations for a new teachers contract, rampant drugs, cost of housing sky-rocketing, etc.....our school leader, Ms. Taymore decides to address our school logo by eliminating the dreamcatcher and our Mayor establishes an unneeded Commission on Women? Looks like the emperors are fiddling while Rome burns.

Serial blogger MFD is using his ample weight to weigh in on another series of topics where he is again seriously misinformed. Driven by his petty animosity and jealousy of the success Melrose and Mayor Dolan continue to have he just can't stop proving what a complete Bozo he is. MFD only has two hands to eat with so he doesn't understand that the job of the Mayors office is to juggle dozens of issues at the same time. If MFD has a Big Mac in one hand and a McFlurry in the other nothing can happen until he finishes stuffing his face and wiping his mouth with his shirt. Progress doesn't stop during a contract negotiation, national opioid epidemic, or the fact that dozens of families are in all out price wars to move in the great City of Melrose. The Bozo Brigade should take a lesson on the creation of the Commission for Women. Its how responsible citizens work with their government to express themselves. Not the slash and burn lies and half truths on the anonymous cess pool knows as Melrose Messages. Its how you gain respect in a community...the type of respect that the losers here yearn for so badly...and will never get...because all they do is b*tch and moan and never accomplish anything. The Native American issue was dumped on Taymore's front porch like is has on hundreds of communities in the country. If she didn't deal with it MFD the blowhard would be whining about that. Go honk your red nose you clown.

1. This is a message board, not a blog.

2. You're a supercilious jerk.

You must be one of those little weak, skinny, wimps so insecure that you need to bash others! You must be a spouse to one of our city hall pols. By the way the native American issue was not dumped in Taymore's lap otherwise she would have mentioned something about it. Also, if someone was offended by feathers on a logo, they have more serious issues than the logo. Also, she was so incompetent - she didn't know how to deflect it and bring in other stakeholders such as PTO's, school committee, BOA, city solicitor, MEF, etc. This woman is a disaster to our city!
