Taxes

I still am trying to figure out where the $50 a quarter “trash fee” we pay with our water bills is applied to. Does this money just go into water and sewer account or do the actually take money out and allocate to DPW? Is this used to pay for employees, equipment ? So this $200 a year fee on top of our outrageous water bills and then property taxes add up to a lot of money. If anyone has any knowledge I would be interested in hearing about it. Thank you !

THANK DOLAN FOR THIS FEE

QUESTION

THANK DOLAN FOR THIS FEE
Another end-run around Prop 2.5, not legal according Don Conn (who should have forced the issue and repealed it, especially having all the legal knowledge about why this is/was an illegal tax).

Re: Taxes

Definitely voting no on the override. But can we as a community stop acting like we pay high taxes. We’re closer to Saugus then we are Winchester. Just remember that.

Re: Taxes

Maybe the reason we pay taxes closer to Saugus than to Winchester is because Melrose is more like Saugus than Winchester. If you can afford better communities and their taxes then move there. Lynnfield has Dolan, too.

How can you say we are more like Saugus, a city with a massive commercial tax base to take pressure off the residential taxes? That's just a flawed argument.

Re: Taxes

How can we say teachers need an increase when they made almost 30k more than privte sector ecomplyees and also get 84% coverage for their insurance. Be thankful and open your eyes to the truth.

It is not about high taxes it is about what the people can afford, maybe your are in the 1% but I wonder will you neglect the 99% that have to work extra to make ends meet? Sorry I am on a fixed budget....
