Lemmerman

Jennifer Lemmerman sold her house this week and her baby is due any minute. If she is no longer a resident of Melrose is she required to resign immediately? Or does the City Charter allow her to remain as BOA President until January?

Re: Lemmerman

Unless she still has a residence in Melrose, she needs to be sent packing immediately.

There was a School Committee member (Ruth...) some years back who sold her Melrose property and moved to Maine but tried to stay on. She was forced out and that's how the city got stuck with Thorp (a friend of Don Constantine, who appointed her....). Not saying we want something like this to happen again, but JL certainly cannot remain on the BOA, let alone head of it, if she is no longer a legal resident. Where is there proof that she does not have legal residency?

She has been a lousy "public servant," so there are plenty of other reasons for wanting her to vamoose, but the legal reasons need to be in place to demand it. There are no clauses allowing her to stay until January. Infurna tried to pull that kind of scam, too, and luckily did not get away with it.

Re: Lemmerman

Lemmerman owns a condo on Main Street but rents it. She is still a Melrose property owner but does not reside there which should require her to resign now.

Re: Lemmerman

Heard at breakfast this morning that President Lemmerman had her baby and sold her house this week. Did she buy another home in Melrose? If she is no longer a resident of Melrose, she needs to resign as the Ward 2 Alderman and President of the Aldermen immediately under City of Melrose Charter Rules.its the law.

Re: Lemmerman

Jennifer Lemmerman announced her resignation today. She made the only legal and moral decision possible. She will preside over her final meeting on Monday night. The longest serving Alderman, Peter Mortimer will take the reigns as Board President until January. Well done, President Lemmerman. Thank you for your service!

Re: Lemmerman

Lemmerman resigned last night. There was a big group picture and was surprised to see MacMaster missing because he never met a camera he didn’t like. Maybe he was on vacation again?

Maybe he was busy doing more important stuff, like representing his constituents.

You know, like an ALDERMAN was elected to do.

Re: Lemmerman

A different approach.

Re: Lemmerman

Where is she moving?

Re: Lemmerman

Lemmerman moved to Andover. Sold her house for 70K over asking price and made 245K profit in 6 years. Family needed bigger house and wanted better schools.

Re: Lemmerman

My understanding is that they were moving closer to family.

Re: Lemmerman

Lesson to be learned: Change.

Re: Lemmerman

Funny she leaves melrose.. why not raise your kid here. The override will MAKE YOU BETTER!!. What a joke. This whole thing proves how upside down melrose is!!

This website often sheds light on subjects politicians and their sycophants try and hide.

Well let's see... Andover is cheaper then Melrose housing-wise so that was probably a factor (have you compared availabilities on the market between towns?). Also, don't act like she's leaving because of the property tax rate because Andover's is much higher. Maybe she wanted a town that would actually invest in it's community by passing an override more than once every QUARTER CENTURY. And one that wasn't filled with babies who whine about a 500 dollar annual property tax increase on their houses that have QUADRUPLED OR QUINTUPLED in value since the 90s.

Or maybe, JUST MAYBE, it was a complicated decision for her to leave and it has absolutely nothing to do with politics or the override. And you are just being a total jerk bringing it into a personal decision.

Re: Lemmerman

That last post has to be one of the best examples of "the pot calling the kettle black (jerk)" that I've ever seen!

Good ol' Willie, the arbiter of civility. I think discourteous comments deserves discourteous responses.

Re: Lemmerman

@Jabber

My interpretation is that she was promoting an override tax increase that she wasn't intending to pay herself.

People have the right to move but it's disingenuous to act like you're SO invested in the community when you really aren't.

You continue to fail in your comprehension that $500 is meaningful to some households and that it's going to be a $500+ tax increase forever.

Go check your carbon footprint or something.

Maybe both you and the poster complaining about the override didn't read the entire thread, but she still owns a condo in town. She will still be paying the higher taxes, but feel free to keep giving her a hard time for deciding to move. A decision I am positive had absolutely zero to do with the property tax override
