Great work

Very proud of the MHS kids again this year. After last years stellar work leading to great college opportunities, this years class if off to a fantastic start. Melrose has 2 Brown early decision admits, 1 Tufts and 1 Harvard...those are early decision choices, I am sure more great news will follow at the regular decision mark. The kids also had a great Fall sports season and the High School was just recognized as one of the top schools in the country for more kids taking and passing AP exams. Congrats to another great group of Melrose kids getting the job done on the field and in the classroom/AP exam room. Future looks bright for these outstanding Melrose High School graduates.

Re: Great work

To much good news.. hum-bug[:)s][:)]

Re: Great work

Great news for that select small group of students. What about all those who are very, very depressed and unhappy right now because they are getting piles of rejections? Remember that AP Bio class that freshmen were shoved into (oh gee thanks Cyndy and Angela for your force-feeding idiocy regarding Advanced Placement classes!) which was taught by a total hack (one of those very same incompetents currently being hailed as a master AP teacher!) who then destroyed the GPAs for many students who are now unhappy and not-so-successful seniors?

Sure, just churn out that spin. You did, after all, hire a PR company (Guilfoil--staff includes a recent "Free"Press reporter) to spin the Melrose Public Schools using our tax dollars--all during the Kick a Ginger Day fiasco, which you want to make sure we forget about. So instead of actually addressing deeply serious problems honestly, you expect to pay a PR firm to just wash and spin them all away!

Oh, and why was this categorized under Ed Stations? Did you run out of Consultant budget funds already? Gee, wonder why....

So, yeah, congrats to those who have worked hard and succeeded. Also wishing all the best to those who have worked in many cases equally hard and are not seeing the results because of the many administrative/guidance/teaching/coaching failures that are not being acknowledged or addressed.

Re: Great work

Totally agree. You just have to wonder exactly who it is posting this feel good drivel. (Not really - it seems pretty obvious.)

Congratulations to those few who are experiencing great success. To them I say your accomplishment is even more impressive given the system you achieved it within. To all the rest, I say I'm very sorry. Your city has let you down terribly.

Thank God I don't have kids in this system anymore. The last one graduated just in time.

Re: Great work

Bottom line is, if your kids is a good student, send him or her to MHS. Anything is possible. If your kid is a punk or you need to constantly be told how great they are; send them to one of the lousy, local private schools. They can then go onto an over-priced, second-tier private college and you can later come on here to bash any positive stories about MHS.

Re: Great work

3 Ivy league Early acceptances, 1 Nescac Early Acceptance, 3 League Championships, 32 League all Stars and 3 Boston Globe All Scholastics, along with National AP Placement recognition, is only feel good drivel if your an irrational Melrose Whiner or you shelled out $15,000+ for a parochial school. To the rest of the rational world its called real results and an obvious indication of the many students excelling at MHS. Whiners eat your heart out. Kids at MHS are doing fantastic. Keep it up Seniors!

Re: Great work

Thank you CKK. IN 2009 MHS had 0 Ivy acceptances; this year there are 3 early acceptances. Great work CKK. Keep it up!

Re: Great work

Once and for all, please get one simple, basic concept through your thick heads. No one on this board is criticizing the kids. One more time for those with reading problems - no one on this board is criticizing the kids.

The criticisms are directed solely at those running things, like Dolan, Taymore, and that entire harem of supporters who think that kissing the emperor's a$$ to get what you want is the way it ought to be. The kids are the victims, not the perpetrators. Exactly what part of that do you not understand? Why do you immediately transform any criticism of the administration as somehow a slap in the face of the kids? That's a rhetorical question, obviously, because I know exactly why you do it.

Re: Great work

Guilty conscience perhaps? Who made any allegations about posters criticizing kids. The post was started to congratulate kids, and then the whiners jumped on to bash the administration. There isn't a single reference to posters criticizing kids until yours.

Re: Great work

Taymore is using our tax dollars allocated to teaching the kids for Public Relations consultants to cover up their Civil rights transgressions? How sick is that! Is that even legal or permissible? And what budget are they paying that out of?[:|]

Re: Great work

Gotta love how the MM Bozo Brigade quickly changes the topic of a positive string about success at MHS into a bunch of negative crap about the admin. What a bunch of clowns.

Re: Great work

Yes Clown Patrol. We are all proud of the kids who are able to muddle through despite the incompetence of the current school administration.
