Tonight's School Committee Meeting

Please watch tonight's school committee meeting either in person (preferred) or on cable - and observe first hand the lack of honesty, truthfulness. and transparency exhibited - especially as they discuss budgetary issues and policy issues.

Let's see who speaks at the meeting - hope Gerry Mroz shows up to give his thoughts and then we will get to see again Margaret Driscoll interrupt him bursting out loudly "Your five minutes are up!" - as if the rest of their meeting is more important than hearing from brave members of the public who subject themselves to the demeaning and self-serving attitude of this chairwoman.

Re: Tonight's School Committee Meeting

Once again we hear from Mr. Mroz's personal representative. Getting tiresome. "Them's are the rules".

Not sure whom that would be since he represents himself quite well. Nothing "fresh" about "Fresh Air" who clearly represents the administration and its tiresome corrupt shills who are more than willing to excuse away anything and everything in the name of the "True Melrosian"!

Re: Tonight's School Committee Meeting

Agreed. GM really speaks for the people. He should run for a SC seat!...Oh wait, he did and finished DFL? OK, then he can just keep showing up and giving his opinion during his 5 minutes.

Dear Fresh Air,

Me's think you seem to have forgotten that the rules only apply to some.

Not being part of the education "inner club", he had an uphill battle when he ran for SC. He needs to try again since there is more frustration among parents than the previous time he ran. Until then - he will continue to speak his mind and provide his insightful comments to this do-nothing SC.

Re: Tonight's School Committee Meeting

Correction: "this do-nothing SC"

Oh they've "done" plenty, and none of it is good. Hence the steady stream of revelations (after months/years of hiding by SC/CT/RD/city solicitor/PR Guilfoil) about federal crimes, findings by Attorney General's office against the district, "settlements" that have been buried in Special Education line items and not listed according to state/federal regulations, legal bills that continue to be hidden, lawsuits and staff grievances that the public still has no knowledge of, and on and on. When this school committee decides to be Decisive with a Capital D, it is capable of moving fast, as it did in manipulating the Mass superintendent's association to "award" CT with that bogus thing in March the week after Mrs. K's bombshell resignation and call for the superintendent's resignation. That was the SC's ploy to hide the many atrocities for which this SC and administration are totally guilty. When it decides to spend our taxpayer dollars with impunity (and zero transparency), or change its own rules ("norms") to allow itself to abuse elected authority, it also manages to "do" quite effectively.

Re: Tonight's School Committee Meeting

GM never campaigned because he is busy supporting a large family and advocating for everyone else's children (and his youngest who is still in the district schools!). Let's not forget that Melrose voters are quite dumb about a lot of things and without much in the way of conscience or intelligent citizenry. They voted in MZ and said no to Dr. LaRock. The local dems (a bunch of self-serving frauds) actively boycotted J.D. (a lifelong Democrat who wrote educational policy in DC for 10 years for Ted Kennedy!) for his courageous and correct (!) refusal to support the override and for his stand in support of Monica Medeiros and Don Conn in calling for a correction (removal of the tiered rates) to the water/sewer debacle. So all those Melrose fake/neoliberals are just as much to blame for the current state of affairs in failing to provide a solid roster of good candidates, failing to support the good ones already serving, and failing to support the obviously good ones at the polls, including GM, who lost to the likes of Jessica (who has been an intensely devoted administrative and MEF shill, actively carrying their water at every turn).

As I recall, he never ran a campaign, yet received almost a thousand votes. Not bad for having no campaign and no political insider scumbags to support you.

Re: Tonight's School Committee Meeting

GM ran a campaign just like everyone else and finished last. Not only did he campaign like the others, he got his 5 minutes of face time every two weeks to put forward his nonsensical theories.
You think frustration is higher now than back then? That is a joke. The only place that frustration reigns is on this board because all of the Melrose haters don't like to see MHS kids do well.

Re: Tonight's School Committee Meeting

4 Ivy acceptances out of 230. Yup, that's sure something to indicate Melrose kids are doing well. Hate this, you moron.

Re: Tonight's School Committee Meeting

The kid who got into Brown has 2 parents who graduated from Brown. Legacy admissions and alum contributions help gain access. I heard she is a smart girl but the family situation certainly made a difference.

Re: Tonight's School Committee Meeting

Funny: I never saw a bumper sticker, or sign nor did he accept any campaign donations to run a campaign, In other words, he didn't run a campaign.

Sorry to burst your bubble - I stood at Melrose downtown corners with signs for Gerry Mroz and CKK - he did pay for his own campaign as did CKK.

Four Alarm Clown alert

"Brown"s comments deserve a special place in the MM Clown hall of fame. Where to begin with this bozo. Lets start with the obvious petty jealousy. Bozo here and the ignorant spouse probably didn't go to college and their progeny must be as stupid as they are. Spreading the family gene well. There were actually two kids that got into Brown from MHS this year, and the wonderful, high achieving female this @sshole is trying to demean finished in the top 10 in her class and earned this admission along with the other excellent choices she had. The family situation did make a difference. Her parents went to Brown and the apple generally doesn't fall far from the tree. Smart parents, smart kids. Ignorant parents, ignorant kids. So when this clowns kids are asking "paper or plastic" or "would you like to supersize your fries" bozo the clown here will know why. Only a complete scumbag would try to diminish the accomplishment of a kid to push the ignorant agenda on Melrose Messages. Melrose High Seniors kicked @ss this year, and their is nothing the bozo's can do to change that. They buried their peers in all of the rinky dink parochial schools, dominated these schools athletically, and rubbed your ignorant noses in sh*t. Boo Yah! 4 Ivies baby.

Re: Four Alarm Clown alert

Yep. There's Clown Patrol flapping the big rubber lips for the Mayor and his posse. Only good point I ever heard from this dwerp: Keep the kids out of it.

What about the other 226? Oops!

Re: Four Alarm Clown alert

Clown Patrol, why don't you go ask the parents of those four kids with Ivy acceptances how great they think MHS is.

Go ahead, I dare you.

Re: Four Alarm Clown alert

The class of 2016 was the strongest in years. The other 226 kids landed exactly where their effort placed them, and the list of extremely competitive colleges they got into was far more impressive than every parochial school that has published their list in the paper. This year built on a 3 year trend clearly demonstrating that a kids opportunities at MHS are boundless. The 4 kids that got into the Ivy League schools all had a great experience at MHS, in the class room, on the field and through the many clubs and activities they participated in...and to a family they never considered sending their kids anywhere else...largely because their kids wouldn't go anywhere else. These are educated people with self motivated kids...the recipe for success at MHS. Very unlike the ignorant morons and their lazy kids that permeate this website. If your kid can't accomplish their goals at MHS take them over to the mirror and stand next to them, then apologize for handing them the losing lottery ticket in the genetic gene pool.

That's pure unadulterated horse$hit. Where two kids from different systems who make exactly the same effort land depends almost entirely on the quality of the system they came from. In that regard, being from Melrose has totally screwed these kids. The torrential flood of misdirection you spew is nauseating.

Re: Four Alarm Clown alert

"and to a family they never considered sending their kids anywhere else."

Lol, I thought so. You don't know all these families.

Re: Four Alarm Clown alert

Ahhh... Waka, Waka, Waka

Re: Four Alarm Clown alert

Clown Patrol, why don't you report back to RD and give your big rubber lips a break for the evening?
