Since when did the School Committee jump the Business Manager's salary by more than $15,000, and how do they think they justify this when they just hired a completely unqualified, untrained, obviously failed principal to take on this job? Just add this to the endless list of burgeoning outrages from the members of this public body that apparently has no interest in abiding by their oaths of office.
Oh good, so Picone @ $115K ditches for greener pastures and these geniuses bring in this loser novice at $134K. Sounds like an earlier poster was correct that MF is just a placeholder for the Certifiable Looney MD who is doing her time supposedly getting qualified as a Biz Manager working for the Mass Ass of School Committees, speaking of a bunch of arrogant ignorant crazies. It just gets worse and worse.
And once Margaret Drsicoll becomes available for that position, that salary will be even higher - why would she want to work for that money when she will have all those great credentials and more experience than Farrell! The beat goes on for this incompetent bunch of fools!

Outrageous. $134k is about a 20% increase over last year. It's 50% more than the job paid just a few years ago. Did they advertise the job last spring at $134k before they just gave it to Farrell? The job isn't worth that much money. At that price they could have gotten many qualified candidates.

That's the point - at that price she would be able to get a competent business manager who would tell Taymore how much corruption there is in the budget - better to give the job to an incompetent friend, Farrell!

Tuesday night Bellatrix whined about how they need teachers, school psychologists, more administrators, and then she whined some more, droning in that gawdawful grating noise she makes when she talks, trying to do more "positioning" for whatever money scheme the Dark Wizard has in store for voters next year. Petunia & Dolores genuflected and officiated all over the place, as per usual. Vernon didn't arrive until most of the meeting was over, as per usual. Scabbers wasn't "nascent" or a "true scientist" this time, but she just had to tell us all about how her child is "an athlete who got a concussion...." And then she genuflected about the "wonderful progress" in having a concussion policy, for gawdsake. Dolores was all about "moving forward" and took lots of notes for her silly website. She didn't even bother to open Public Participation (she still should have) because no one was in the chamber (great public engagement this bunch evokes!). Mundungus the common thief did his usual large amount of blithering nothing. The bobbing head RitaSkeeter did more of that and nothing else. Nagini slithered up to officiate over more nothing in F&F. Petunia had zero on the EP&P agenda because of course there isn't a single educational issue that needs to be investigated or managed in this utopian school district where rainbows and unicorns are emitted and trickled down from the administrators through to the eager student population. Even the stud reps were remarkably full of it, very loudly emitting all over the place with such bluster and phony BS that screamed out for a dose of Dolores' sure-handed gavel/wand. Such vapid and dark proceedings.

Paras are only one of many needs. CT said something to the effect that she needed staff, staff and more staff, guidance counselors, specialists and a few other things. Amazing how CT, SC and the Mayor have no money for things that directly impact students but plenty of money to give the new biz manager a raise and to continue to pay a PR firm and Lawyers. Never mind about those over crowded classes, lack of teachers, and those pesky agenda books for HS students. If they can screw the kids they will. Great group of SC members we have. I hope Aaron runs his last article on this one. Such an enormous disgrace! MF may not even be certified yet and she gets a raise? Must be one of those line her pocket raises so that she just does and says whatever CT wants instead of what is best for the schools.

Unfortunately, it has more to do with him personally promoting her for the job back in 2012 and forcing her on the rest of the School committee. He just can't admit it was a big mistake, nor can the other SC members. It is a shame that the taxpayers have to fund the mayor's and superintendent's PR campaign to spin a train wreck into something palatable.
It is also a shame that about a half million dollars of the education was spent in legal fees to attempt a coverup of the administration's misdeeds from the Federal Office of Civil Rights, Mass Attorney General's Office -Public Records Division and even our own school committee members. Shameful.
The Mayor and the school committee hacks should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen! This only reinforces the imagine of a "click"in the admin which does not allow transparency in the running of the schools or dealing with all the important issues.
Our school committee chair, Margaret Driscoll, is the worse of the bunch and it confounds me why anyone would support this dreadful, arrogant, dictatorial, elitist unless these people have all the same traits! The other committee members all have self-serving reasons for being on the committee and they are patently obvious to most people.
Can someone go before the next school committee meeting and ask about the salary increase? Using their 5 mins to speak?

The super and mayor know how to reward those that toe the company line. It's sends a powerful message that others who do so will also be well rewarded. Like Casey and Taymore, Farrell is just another low-level hack who cashes out at the end of her career to retire receiving $120,000 or more in retirement each year.
The system is rigged against the taxpayer in favor of these people who only made $75,000 a year for most of their career to work for only three years at $150,000 and then retire making $120,000 a year. Really! They retire at $45,000 a year more than their normal salary!!

Want to stop this? Start voting for Republicans and get rid of the rich retirement plans - the single party in this state is corrupt - you know it, I know it, and the rest of the public knows it - but just keep on voting Democrat - and then stop complaining!

We have two absolutely two corrupt local leaders---Brodeur and Lewis who refuse to vote against their bosses on bills for fear they will lose committee assignments and therefore, lose money! However their bosses allow them to sponsor bills that are practically meaningless and non-consequential so that they can go back to their constituents and say, "I did this for you, the people", and make them feel like they accomplished something, knowing that they are corrupting the system by voting for continuing the corruption at the state house. But I guess they sit back and say, it worked for Katherine Clark, maybe it will work for me!
Our corrupt Rep Brodeur even had the nerve to vote last year to eliminate term limits for the speaker position - I guess he had to - that's the way it is up there - go along - to get along - and Brodeur is real good at going along. When you meet the guy - he seems sincere and personable - get up him at Beacon Hill - he is as corrupt as the other Dems - selling us for a pot of money!
People - wake up and see that these two guys are the cause of our political ills and corruption at the state house. It is amazing that the last 3 speakers were indicted and two served prison terms - and we all know that DeLeo is on the verge of being indicted as soon as he leaves office!
