Re: Get him out

I agree with every word you said.

Re: Get him out

This misogynist silliness about "women principles" is ridiculous and not worthy of being repeated. Maynard and Conway were both hired as male elementary principals (note: PRINCIPALS), and they're both utterly awful and were right from the start, as was Strasnik, and for that matter the male secondary administrators--Casey and Dillon, all low-caliber and damaging to the district. Truth is that there really isn't a single fully qualified administrator anyplace in the district now, thanks to a school committee that has gotten away with its ugly nonsense for a decade and a half. Until Melrose starts putting forward decent candidates who will hire and retain a decent superintendent, the district has zero chance of healing itself from the many years of atrocious administrators. So far it's only more of the proven failed MEF types (like JMcA whose disastrously failed override caused so much divide in the community) who continue to ooze forth as candidates, along with a right-wing kid who knows nothing about education. Melrose has proven it doesn't care about its students or its schools, so this whole string is just tiresome now.

Re: Get him out

He should be gone, the spelling of Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School, on the school he works in is spelled WRONG! Mr. Conway and the administration should be ashamed of themselves. This is typical of Melrose.

Re: Get him out

Ringo
Does Melrose hire any good Principles? Honestly? They keep hiring women Elementary Principles and I never hear a darn good thing about them. And why keep hiring women? To prove you are a women friendly city? Give me a break. How about hiring the best candidate. What happened to working your way through the ranks? Putting your years in as a teacher and then qualifying, if you are worthy enough, to be Principle. This hiring of people who are in their 20's and 30's because they have a Principle or whatever you call it degree, is not working. You need a seasoned, compassionate, wise, strong educator with common sense.
This past school year we had a student at the Lincoln school bouncing a basketball down the hallway whenever he wanted because after it was taken from him one day for doing it his family threatened the school. Yes folks this is what the American school system has become. The inmates run the asylum and those who are supposed to be in charge are scared ****less. This is also one of those highly ranked schools, so imagine what the lower ranked ones are like.
This is progressiveness.

This is what we have to look forward too.

Re: Get him out

Ms. Taymore needs to be gone for allowing this incorrect spelling to stay at the school like that. She will allow this principal to redecorate her office at the Lincoln and tax payers will pay for this. When the MVMMS is spelled wrong on the building.

Re: Get him out

Other cities and states would never hire the principals Melrose has female or male. They have not put in enough time to be a principal and it is showing. The parents and teachers are so unhappy so it makes it not a healthy district. Ms. Taymore needs to Paymore.

Re: Get him out

The school committee members feel they are shielded from responsibility. Not Responsible for anything to do with the superintendent.Melrose pub schools. We all should look back in time.

Re: Get him out

Melrose educators are lacking years of experience. It is to be done CT's way or the highway. Results are coming in for CT and she has failed Melrose.

Re: Get him out

The MVMMS principal played a huge part in what took place with the paras union. Mostly because they started this catastrophe.

Re: Get him out

GET HIM THE F*CK OUT and take those bullies he's groomed with him. No para that's worth their salt is gonna survive in that hell hole. Hey JB, still crying your eyes out? Ya we caught on to your Conway congame.

Re: Get him out

Why isn't this misogynist gone. Primarily female employees and you placed this person in charge. Says a lot.

Conway is in over her head. All the new 6th grade parents should talk to seasoned MVMMS parents about how Conway handled the setting issues involving the 8th graders. Fire BC and CT!

Yes, the 8th grade boys pressured girls to send them naked pictures of themselves. This was widely known among the teachers and administrators.

Of course your not. Who would joke about that. If administrators new about this, or any adults, not reporting this to the authorities and parents involved is aiding and abetting after the fact of a crime, child pornography. This disgusts me. It's outrage.

Re: Get him out

Not that I think Conway is a good principal, but I am curious as to why parents think the school system should be responsible for children that take compromising pictures of themselves and send them around. Why should they then be responsible again when those pictures get forwarded to other students? Where is the parental responsibility? Mommy and Daddy hand these kids $800 I phones that they spend $35 a month on, and i guarantee to a kid that every single one involved still has the phone in their possession. Way too much responsibility placed on the school system for behavior outside the context of education, and way too many weak parents willing to hand that responsibility off.

I agree with you - schools should educate - not bring up your kids! Also, please explain why kids are still allowed to bring their phones into class - a major distraction to teaching!

Re: Get him out

To curious. If the school didn't know it wouldn't fall on them. If they did and they do nothing it falls on them as adults and city officials to report these crime. I mean, my god, your talking 11 years olds and up. Some prepubescent. A pedophiles dream. Normal people know how dangerous this is. Grown ups know, or should know how dangerous this is. Kids don't. That is why adults need to step up for safety reasons.

I agree with you.

Re: Get him out

The schools are out of control. No safety is in place with most of the school's principal's not so bright and new. I am sure MLR and her gang knew about this too.

Re: Get him out

The schools are only out of control because of the learned behavior children bring into the school from home. If you as a parent are concerned about pedophiles and the dangers of social media then give your kids a flip phone. This is not the schools problem. Prep schools have problems when their teachers rape students, or students rape students in dorms. That is the schools responsibility. If your kid takes a provocative picture or receives one and sends it around, and you want to blame the school, you are a horrible parent. If you are a parent who thinks its the schools responsibility you are one pic away on your kids phone from becoming a horrible parent. This is the same theme that has run through Melrose Messages for years. Its everyone's fault but their own. If I had to choose between having no kids, or placing the responsibility for teaching my children how to be responsible adults with any public or private school system I would have made the decision not to have them. My kids are my responsibility. period. Good days, bad days and every day in between I own it. You fools are setting yourselves and your kids up for failure.

Re: Get him out

What month did this take place? And was it reported?

Re: Get him out

I agree. Parents need to starting taking responsibility for their children's behavior. It is not the schools responsibility to parent our children.

Superintendent picks two women for key Pentucket positions

By Jennifer Solis Correspondent
Jul 26, 2017
WEST NEWBURY — Superintendent Jeff Mulqueen is tapping two women for key leadership roles in the Pentucket Regional School District.

Mulqueen announced on Tuesday his pick for the district’s newly created assistant superintendent position is Christine Kelley. Kelley, who serves as a K-8 elementary principal in Brookline, was one of 35 applicants and three finalists seeking the post.

The School Committee unanimously approved Mulqueen's recommendation with no discussion.

The other two finalists were ***Brent Conway, a middle school principal in Melrose**** and Michael Tracy, a middle school principal in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

Re: Get him out

Too bad the cast of losers in Melrose Schools admin keeps not getting jobs elsewhere and we are stuck with them. There's a reason some of these arrogant a$$es keep failing in their pursuit of jobs elsewhere. Too bad Melrose idiots couldn't have had a smidgeon of the judgment that these other districts had in rejecting these awful administrators before they could get entrenched here. Now they will continue along in their increasingly arrogant and harmful ways, resentful that they're here and quite willing to take it out on students, teachers, and staff (and parents who dare to complain when they consistently fail to meet even the most basic expectations of professionalism).

Re: Get him out

Who else has had it with the bull Mr. Conway spews? Please join forces and get him out to protect the kids of the city. He targets kids and doesn't stop. Parents are leaving the school system after middle school because they can't take it. Join together as a village and save out kids.
Call The Department of Education and file a complaint.

HOW TO DEAL WHEN YOUR PRINCIPAL IS A JERK

1. Document everything.

2. Keep calm and do your job.

3. Tap your union reps.

4. Kill them with kindness

5. Get out of there Pronto!

Mr. Conway is a Caring and Respectful Educator

My child is a recent former student at Melrose Middle School and had Mr. Conway for the last two years of the middle school experience. I couldn't be happier with how Mr. Conway treated my child. He was always open to a conversation with my child and myself and worked hard to offer a quality education. He treated my child with respect and courtesy. We should have more educators like Mr. Conway in the Melrose system.
