Rivers of Gouyave, a tribute to your tributary flows,
But, rivers of Gouyave, have you lost favour with Grand l’Etang?
In muscavado isles days, your grassed, molassed, enslaved river banks
Mantled, with a maze of sugar cane mills,
From Red River down to Charlotte town;
Drove by cane juiced perfumed river waters
of Grand Riviere de l’Ance Goyave and Charlotte River!

Rivers of Gouyave, a tribute to your tributary flows!
But, rivers of Gouyave, have you lost favour with Grand l’Etang?
Your fatigued Ravine Crapaud, vigourless, crapaudless flow;
Even with mountain shadowing inputs from Great Branch and Little Rivers!
Your now silenced-trickling rivers flow, a folly resultant of errors?
a tributary ‘water-capping’ from Nianganfoux?
or shall a finger be pointed at the crayfishless Ravine de L’Etang!
So, rivers of Gouyave, have you lost favour with Grand l'Etang?
