I have owned the penthouse where Jack died in West Hollywood for over 6 years and we live with his very strong presence. We have acknowledged him since we moved in, placing a framed photo of him in the bar, pouring him a glass of wine whenever we have freinds over. He makes his presence known regularly through teasing with the electrical system in the house, regular appearances of the apparition and an odor of cigar smoke in a home where nobody has ever smoked a cigar. We have had a paranormal specialist in who tells us we have a comfortable, nurturing presence. Jack is our family! Please keep me posted as we would love to be at the unveiling of his star.

I never met Jack, but what I want to say is he had such a presence on screen and tv, I loved his smile which always seemed to reach his eyes. He was a good actor and it always gave me a thrill to watch him. He deserves his star on walk of fame.

Comments:

I remember when he passed away and even though I was very young I was so sad for Shaun and his family. I really liked Shaun and David. I remember going down to the Omni here in Atlanta even though I didnt have tickets just so I could be closer to Shaun. Jack was a great showman from what I remember! His sons have done him proud! God Bless You Jack! By the way Jack tell my Mom hello!

His portrayal on Columbo.

Comments:

I just tried to order Ryan's magnet & help Jack get his star. His talent deserves to be recognized. All 4 of his sons have immense talent and I find it incredibly wrong that Jack didn't automatically have his star.

I remember watching Jack act on several different shows while I was growing up in Texas. He was very easy on the eyes and had a charming charisma! I was 21 when I heard of his death, and I knew the showbiz world would never be the same for me, and most everyone else! He truly left his mark in this world!

What is your favorite memory of Jack?

"He & She"

Comments:

There are only two memories I have of the tv show "He & She." One is the joy the couple exhibited at getting a job that paid $100 a week -!- and the other is of Jack Cassidy's character in his Jet Man costume, singing "Who makes the scene when things look mean, why it's JET Man..." I have no idea why that struck me as so funny, but I have carried that with me since the '60's, and it still makes me smile just to think of it. He was also great as Ted Baxter's brother on the Mary Tyler Moore show.

What is your favorite memory of Jack?

Columbo-The Great Santini '' And I thought I'd performed the perfect murder''.

Comments:

I was delighted to read last year that Jack had been awarded a star on the walk of fame. I think that great actors should be remembered and their memory should continue to inspire others.
I have only seen Jack a handful of times but I noted that he had a presence on the screen and a sparkle in his eyes that gave an extra energy to every performance. Not only was Jack a highly skilled actor who could turn his hand to any medium, be it live theatre or close up screen acting, he had that extra sparkle that cannot be trained or taught. It is inherent.
I wish Michele and co continued support with their commendable work!

It was such a waste that he went when he did. I remember hearing the newscast about his death. He was definitely an irriplacable talent and has been sorly missed over the past 30 years.

What is your favorite memory of Jack?

the voice of Bob Cratchett

Comments:

Mr. Magoo's A Christmas Carol played once, in 1962. The ghosts were very scary back then. I loved it and was somewhat haunted by the voice of the father.

Fast forward to Dave's book. It mentioned how beautiful Jack's singing voice was. I was disappointed because I thought I had never heard it. He then went on to mention he sang the part of Bob Cratchett. I was overjoyed to know I had heard the voice. As my Heavenly Father is, I found a copy of it at a local video store. Pristine condition. It has become a tradtion every Thanksgiving to view it. I remember Jack as a marvelous actor. The might I heard of his tragic death in 1976, I began praying for the family. And continue to do so today.

Thanks for allowing me to share.

What a beautiful and loving tribute! Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to know much about Jack's career while it was happening, but thanks to the DVD I now have the chance to fully appreciate what a talented man he was. His talent is also apparent in his children and it's nice to know that they are carrying on the "family tradition" in ways other than acting or singing. It's wonderful also to see Jack's name and to be able to link right to this tribute on the home page! It's obvious how much Ryan still loves and cares about his father and it is nice that he "shares" him with us.

On a side note, Michele, I was wondering if you/Ryan had ever thought of moving Ryan's "Life With My Father Jack" and putting it under the tribute?

This biography is great as far as it goes, but it does not offer any insight into the causes of his downfall. I should think this information would help up and coming stars avoid the same pitfalls.
