My name is Catherine Waugh and I came across your website whilst doing some research on Hugh Waugh who died in WW1.

My grandfather was Livingstone WAUGH - my father was John WAUGH (1929 - 2014). My father was born in Uddingston then moved to Stirling where they lived - indeed some members still live there.

We have lived in Australia since 1968 - I was born in Edinburgh in 1966 after mum and dad returned to Scotland having lived in Kenya where my brother (MIchael John LIvingstone) was born.

I think we must be second cousins? Not sure.

I went to High Blantyre Primary School, then onto Calder Street. Married Peter Sinclair from Ardrossan Ayrshire and moved to Tunbridge Wells where I have lived for over 40 years. 2 wonderful sons. Unfortunately, my husband died almost 7 years ago. I work at Ellenors charity shop to raise funds for terminally ill children. I am in a couple of photographs. The site brought back happy memories. I was driving down Stonefield Rd yesterday for the first time since the 1960s towards the Main St junction, and I noticed the cafe (and building) which used to be there on the right is gone.
(Where I first tasted ice cream with chopped up mars bar).
There is a nearby street named \'Valerio Ct\'. Is this in memory of the cafe long-gone cafe?

My 4GGGG Grandfather John Christie grew up in Blantyre before leaving for America in about 1832 and settling in New Jersey. I have wanted to visit Scotland and see Blantyre as long as I can remember. Next year I am going!!! Your website is wonderful!!!!

I left Blantyre for the USA in 1968 at age 18. Six years later I married my husband Bob, and we have two sons, Christopher and Jonathan, and three granddaughters. I earned a college degree and had an interesting career working for universities in Dubuque, Iowa. I retired in June 2014. The town where we reside is about 10 miles west of the Mississippi River. I returned to Blantyre often over the years, but have not been back since my older brother Peter and my mother Ann Ellis passed away 10 years ago. I will return to Blantyre soon because Scotland is always close to my heart. If anyone remembers me or the Ellis family, I would love to hear from you. Thank you.
