Wild trip report! What audacity it must take to venture into a place like this, I would have been terrified of saying or doing the wrong thing! Great photos as well, thanks! |

Fantastic! Loved the trip report! I am trying to convince my old man to come with me some time in the near future! Seems like a highly interesting place that would be well worth the visit. My only concern is, would my travel money go towards Nuclear Weapons, or something sinister? |

Thank you very much for writing about your trip. I found the remark about removing your NK pin on the plane leaving, very interesting. You obviously felt affection for your guides and pity for the people on the street, which must of caused this schism. I can only suggest that you were keen to wear it, whilst you there, not only as a mark of loyalty to the guides, but as a means to go along with there sadly 'brain-washed' loyalty to KJI. |

I really felt like I was the one visiting this very secretive country! Good job writing the report, and I would have liked to see NK TV myself, though it seems quite boring! |

Hi there. I am sitting in a Beijing hotel, waiting for the train to leave for Pyongyang... 8 days of NK ahead of me. I read parts of your journal. Really great! I can't wait to go there and see it all with my own eyes. I'm getting excited now! Thanks for sharing your impressions. Tobias,- |

Yes, I do think the "Throw rocks at American" is over the top, especially hits close to home for me, as my dad was in the military |

I'm visiting North Korea in a few months - I've tried to avoid reading travel diaries and whatnot, in order to stop myself developing preconceptions. I think it's somewhat impossible, so I'm glad I found this! One of the most descriptive and informative pages about NK tourism I've found - thanks a lot! |

I visited the DPRK this April, Seen all of the sights that you have mentioned. It was one of the most strange but most interesting trips of my life. The strangest 2 incidents were as followings. Seeing an English lesson in the Grand Study house, the lecturer was teaching them the saying" the walls have ears" Also one night I had a little too much to drink and in the lift I was not being too nice about the Kims, the lift stopped and started to go back down. I thought what have I done, there will be guards at the reception waiting for me!! To by relief the lift then started to go back up!!!! You could tell that the people were totally brainwashed, I played along and I agree with you, you will never change their minds anyway. It was a living History lesson.like something out of Stalins Russia There was the grand buildings but the airport had no water!!! There was also no advertising Darren |

Dear Arne, I work for a small art journal (www.cabinetmagazine.org) and we are interested in obtaining high-resolution images of the mosaics at the Korean Film Studios. Might you have any such images available? Thank you, Janani + 718 222 8434 www.cabinetmagazine.org |

i have always had a strange interest in north korea. its my need to investigate the unknown that keeps my attention on NK. i want to say that i feel badly for the people of NK, but at the same time, i know nothing about the place so how can i say something like that? as you said in your writing, i too would like to open the eyes of a north korean. and say look at the world.... that would be killer. absolutely facinating. take care! -Billy |

Very informative and educational. I took a short course on Korea (North and South) - we are to write an essay on anything from North or South. I do love the pics and details on the Monument to Party Foundation- this is how I accidentally came upon your site. I do believe I will do an essay on that monument and another. The pics are fabulous. Wish I could go someday. Thank you! |
