The City of Melrose has a long way to go with all the legal fees first. The SC is more to blame than the superintendent. Our School Committee is Cyndi's boss and has the power to let her go at anytime. What has to happen for someone to read into this major problem in Melrose. CT hired all the principals since she has been in Melrose.
The survey is going to the superintendent. What person is going to say the school sucks and the principal too. They have your email because it was sent to you. This is how Melrose works so no more lawsuits. The city is intimidating the staff and the butt-kissers are writing what the city wants to hear.

Sped teachers if it passes then you will need to teach a class so start looking to be a classroom teacher.

Because most Melrose residents are ignorant about what is really going on in the schools! And I can't necessarily blame them since the information allowed for public consumption at school committee meetings is strictly controlled by Chair Margaret Driscoll and her Norms and a go-along to get-along school committee. Also, our local newspapers are threatened by the Mayor's office and local realtors if they print negative articles on our school system.
So here we are with countless violations of student rights, OCR violations, lack of proper budgetary reforms, and a school superintendent who should have been thrown out after her first year! What a shame!

Hate to say it but voters did this to themselves. They allowed and continue to allow Mayor Dolan, Margaret Driscoll Superintendent Taymore and the Gutless SC members get away with using tax payer money set aside to teach children and instead, diverted it to the tune of almost $1000 a month to a "fake news" PR Agency to spin lies, create fake awards for Melrose SC members and administrators under scrutiny or investigation by the Feds and State investigators. Just like their advertisements say: "Guilfoil Public Relations: "FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST". PR, media, and CRISIS MANAGEMENT for police, fire, government, and small business. A reminder, no one publically exposed a child's personally identifiable information here, except the school committee and superintendent of schools. They have publically acknowledged the unlawful action and falsely claimed publicly that they had removed the information. They all( the superintendent, SC chair, Mayor Dolan, city solicitor and all SC members) have been made aware the information is still on IQM2 and have defiantly decided not to take it down even though they are in violation of State and Federal laws that protect children and their identities. This reckless and illegal behavior is harming children and their families every day it is still publicly available.

Especially after the office of civil rights investigations of Melrose schools, Taymore has little credibility on discrimination issues.
Not to mention that Taymore falsely claimed to the Melrose Free Press that she had removed students' personal information violative of Federal FERPA laws, Massachusetts Privacy of School Records Laws: Their names, and outplacements and tuition costs, all still available on the IQM2 page on the school's website for all the snoopers to see. Would you want the whole city to know your child goes to a facility called Home for Little Wanderers or the Justice Resource Institute?
And where has Margaret and the School Committee been during these many months of open and egregious violations of State and Federal Laws?? Surely they were aware of the news article disclosing this serious violation. Did Margaret and her cabal ever care to even check to see that the violative information about our students is still up on there own website? This school committee, school superintendent and city solicitor are so stupid (or openly brazen) that they continue to this day to illegally expose personally identifiable information to the general public about specific outplaced SPED students, their outplacements and tuition fees on the school department's website (IQ2M ) in violation of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) as pointed out several months ago in an article by Mr. Leibowitz (Free Press). Oddly enough, Cyndy Taymore admitted to this and falsely stated that they immediately took action to correct the mistake'" That was months ago and the violative information is still on the Melrose School Department's website for the world to see. FERPA is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records and information. Schools risk federal funding if they fail to take action to protect student's and family's personal information.

There are dozens of official civil rights complaints that were filed with Ms. Lambright or superintendent CT prior to the Office of Civil Rights investigating the Melrose school department (including mine). None have been investigated, nor outcome letters sent to parents with investigation findings or resolution as required by Federal Civil Rights laws. These formal civil rights complaints do not go away simply because the superintendent or city solicitor fires off a retaliatory letter or e-mail to the parents alleging some wild story that it was the parents or student that was actually harassing the aggressor and that they should drop their claim unless they want to be charged with harassment. Those of you reading this who have SPED children or have filed a complaint with the District recognize this tactic by now, but take comfort that you are one of many who have received illegal retaliatory correspondence from the superintendent, city solicitor or perhaps even your principal. Others reading this should not be shocked that this illegal behavior by the district goes on routinely. Some elementary PTO moms have only constant praise for the school. Doesn't matter how bad something is. They're the first to jump to the defence of the district. Especially when another parent critcizes the school at a PTO meeting, they immediately praise it. Their kid gets to middle school, more of the same thing.
Principals routinely exploit those PTO moms. They take the easy way out. They act like one parent's praise simply cancels out another's criticism. Since there are people on both sides, it's just opinions, nothing more. They don't respond to the criticism. They don't fix the problem. The school doesn't improve.
There are two types of these PTO moms. One drinks the kool-aid all the way through. Because they're kid isn't dying, the school must be great. If nothing else, they're consistent in their selfishness.
The other type is the complete hypocrite. They kiss the principal's butt all the way through elementary and middle school. They say the superintendent is the best. The curriculum director is the best. The teachers are the best. Suddenly, after middle school they send their kid to Malden Catholic or Bishop Fenwick or some other place. I just heard of another kid of a PTO mom leaving the district. His mom was still kissing up to Conway last month. Hypocrite.
It's deja vu every year. There always another bunch.

Yes, that is so true but, then 3 to 4 activities the children are involved in is a lot to handle and costly. No one is having diner at the tables anymore together. Parents are not talking to the kids about bulling and how to be kind to one another. Very sad this generation is all about themselves.

The truth hurts but, parents are not being the adults in situations. They are allowing kids to make decisions on their own. The parents are becoming more and more the issue. I know parents, teachers, staff, principal and administration don't care its a business now! The schools have so much more competition in other places. The MPS has failed and they don't see that Melrose is only declining.

Studies have shown if employees are happy in the work force amazing things will happen. Employees in Melrose are working because they need the money and have been in the schools for years. The school will target women when they are 40 and up to get younger staff to make it look like they are a growing community. Don't let them fool!!!!
