Have just watched the inventive on line- 15 entries -much better than the NCDTA was it 5? I was taken aback by the speed and complexity of the Quicksteps etc there does seem to be a trend of making the dances more and more difficult. I liked one of the waltzes nice & social I thought- it would dance well with us older dances at the tea dances etc Guess what it didn\'t make it past the first round!! .An all lady final with a foxtrot as the winner - a feather step into a double reverse spin - Really?? That takes it out of the reach of a lot of social dancers

Having now done the three dances we found them all Ok. We liked the rumba the Waltz was ok as was the tango, still to do the old time dance looking forward to that.

New IDTA Dances

Comments

I think from the HOP scripts we have 4 very usable dances. The Waltz refered to on You Tube is not the offical dance from the IDTA, all I can find is the KING CHARLES WALTZ, a rouge dance from an organist, we now have an offical corrobation dance BDC recognised KINGS CORONATION WALTZ. A fitting tribute in the D Tonks memorial cup with the Coral Waltz winning a true nice Classical Waltz. The Rumba is lovely, no fan position natural tops or rope spins we have seen for so long. not got round to teaching the classical tango as of yet, but like most of the time my dancers prefer the Mordern and Latin, so currently concentrating on those.

Well honestly if they were the best on the day I dread to think what the worst look liked, we have seen the mambo so many times in nearly every comp, it old hat

Come Dancing 1977

Comments

If, like me, you\'re glued to the archive re-runs of Come Dancing currently on BBC FOUR (Sundays, 7pm), you will have spotted a \"Modern Sequence Exhibition\" section which was in the 1977 series (episode 2 tonight, episode 1 available on iPlayer).

What I want to know is: what were the actual dances? The commentator didn\'t say. The waltzes were easy enough, I know those (but won\'t spoil the debate by saying). The Coventry team performed a waltz, foxtrot, and quickstep (as a medley), while the Horsham team did waltz, tango, and quickstep.

I see there were only 3 entries per section at the last in-person event. Any fewer and they wouldn\'t be able to run it. Seems to me they are now at the point where something needs to done to widen participation.
