A few thoughts on Independence.

A few thoughts on Independence.

When we learn to pool our minds and our resources
To strive with the singular aim to help our country
We will be walking on the road called Independence.
When we stop the “fight down” spirit and use our time and energy
To lend support to those who are prepared to help themselves
And not to those whose ambition is just to wait on handouts
We will be doing a service to advance the cause off our people
For the old adage tells us that if you give a man a fish, you are only feeding him
But if you teach that man to fish, he will feed himself one day.
M.Z. Mark rightly preached “There is no substitution for hard work”
And to those who are engrossed in criticizing for criticizing sake
Take a moment to check yourselves and offer solutions.
It is easy to sit back on an armchair and level criticism
But where are your constructive efforts to touch the plough
And to plant a few seeds yourself that will bear good fruits?
Use your time and talent to help a child that desperately cries for bread
Give to an organization that defies the elements to soften the plight of people
The positive ideas you have, you must free them from your head
For they will die there if kept in solitary confinement.
Be a doer not just a talker for talk is sometimes cheap
Get up this day and cast selfishness, envy and jealousy aside
And work towards the good of humankind.
