Cuthbert Anthony Gibbs aka “Fighter” & “Coto” has died

Whether you referred to him as Coto or Fighter, all Gouyave knew who you were talking about Mr & Mrs. Buddy Gibbs's first son.

Fighter/Coto and his brother, Dr. Bernard "Catty" Gibbs were among the prominent and outstanding youngsters of my generation. What a character he was! His parents' two-story house is still standing on Dominic Street directly opposite Miss Mimmie's shop where the tastiest fudge you could buy, was made.

Although I wanted to relax a bit longer after my secondary schooling came to an end, I gave in to accept his place at the Gouyave post office so that he could depart with a host of our other friends for England. I did not see Coto again for many, many years until for a brief moment he stopped to offer his sympathies during the funeral of my brother Reginald "Kasheen" DeCoteau.

He will always be remembered by those of us who knew him so fondly. Farewell and rest in peace my friend.
